This exhilarating event is taking place October 16-19 and, for the first time ever, you can register directly for the convention!

Cadettes look for the ME in media and learn how they can shape media-for themselves, their community and the world.

Camp Nights- parents, volunteers and girls are invited to join us to meet camp staff, ask questions, and get more information about Camp Scherman. Camp Nights will be from 7:00-8:30 PM.  To register for a Camp Night and get directions, please email ejohnson@girlscoutsoc.org

Open House

Pack a lunch and bring the family up to camp for Camp Scherman Open House on June 22. Go on a camp tour, meet the staff, and sing a few songs while you walk around the property. 2014 WEEKEND CAMPS

Weekend Camps will be offered now through the summer!  Sign up as a troop or as a parent-child pair.  Registration is now open for Weekend Camps through Dec 2014!  Click here for a complete listing and more information on all weekend camps.

Who wants to saddle up and take a trail ride at camp? We have now added a horse option to the program offerings for the summer weekend camps only (additional fee required). Register today - space is limited!

SUMMER CAMP SPOTLIGHTS:

 

Apprentice Program - July 14-Aug 15

The Apprentice Program is designed for those who have completed CIT 1 and CIT 2 and are not yet eligible to be summer resident staff. Participants will learn and work in different areas of camp to gain experience in planning and implementing quality camp programming for appropriate age groups. There is an application and interview process and limited spots are available. To apply, email ejohnson@GirlScoutsOC.org

 

Girls and Guitars - July 21-25
For girls entering grades 4-6
Can you play riffs or strum in the key of G? Learn to play guitar to accompany popular camp songs. Join your fellow musicians for camp activities when you aren't strumming. If you have a guitar or a ukulele, please bring it, but it is not required. Register Now!

 

The Science of Camp - July 28-Aug 1 AND Aug 11-15
For girls entering grades 4-6
Explore the wonders of science and the outdoors as you make and launch bottle rockets, experiment with slimey, oozey chemical reactions, perform an egg drop, and build catapults and marshmallow shooters. Have fun as you explore camp and all it has to offer! Register Now!

 

Ranch House Camper Sampler - July 28-Aug 1
For girls entering grades 6-10
What will you do this summer? Don't sit inside when you could be in the crystal clear mountain air! Whether you are new to camp or come every year, unplug from your busy life and recharge at Camp Scherman with a little bit of everything - canoeing, archery, swimming, arts and crafts and more. Choose your own adventure and have a summer to remember!  Same great program offerings, but instead of staying in just a cabin, girls sleep in a dormitory style cabin with bunk beds and electricity, and bathrooms inside.  Register Now!

  Volunteer Training 

Get a Head-start on becoming a Leader or Co-Leader Next Year!

Sign up for Volunteer Essentials . . . it takes place the second Tuesday of every month!  This is a required class for new leaders and other volunteers.  See the Learning Progression Chart for more information on what training is required for your role.  The next set of Volunteer Essentials classes takes place on June 10th, 9:30-11:30am or 7:00-9:00pm at Irvine Headquarters. Experienced Girl Scout Adults Needed!

Have you ever thought of sharing your experiences as a Girl Scout volunteer with others?  Our best trainers are enthusiastic about the program and have had experience in being a Leader or Co-Leader, or have had success with Journeys, love to share their outdoor experiences in Troop Tent Camping, Outdoor Cooking, Knots and Lashing, Songs, Games, Maps and Compass, have helped girls go through the Bronze, Silver or Gold Award process or would like to share Girl Scout travel experiences.  If you're interested, we'd love to hear from you!  Please complete our GSOC Trainer Interest Form.
