Troop Renewal! Already? Yes!
Between April 1 and June 30, renew your troops! Those who renew will have an opportunity to win great prizes, plus get a very cool patch. EBiz was updated in August, so unless your families have been in their account since then, you'll have to get them to set up a new account (it's now a family account). Troop leaders, watch for emails on how to do this. Check out this link for some renewal resources.

Also, the Service Unit earns a bonus when troops renew during this period. We need this bonus to operate (things like this email cost money...). Please renew early. We promise it will make your life easier!

Troop Financial Reports are due JUNE 1st. This is an easy online form to complete. It will take less than one hour if you get yourself organized by using the council spreadsheet, (click here to download it) which helps you categorize expenses and income so you can easily fill out the form.

Online Volunteer Applications and Background Screening are COMING! This should make things much easier for troop leaders: after April 15, volunteers will be able to fill out their applications online and submit directly to the background screening vendor (bypassing council entirely and speeding things up). Now there's no excuse to not have enough Responsible Adults in your troop!!
Greetings!

Our next Service Unit Meeting will take place on May 8
at 7 pm at the Elks Lodge in San Clemente - 1505 N. El Camino Real. Parking is available in the back off Los Molinos.
New Troop Welcome
check mark

Welcome to new Daisy Troop 273, led by Allison Hoffman! Troop 273 includes Kindergarten Daisies from Vista Del Mar, San Juan Elementary and Las Palmas, as well as homeschooled students! We look forward to watching these Daisies grow.

Scout House Weekend
At the end of March, Troop 1510 spent a weekend at the Laguna Beach Scout House to celebrate a successful cookie season and work on their Amaze Journey. On Saturday, March 29, Juniors from three local troops joined them to participate in a practice session for the upcoming Junior Jam. Troops 355, 1520 and 2749 worked on their skills in various areas, including knot tying, whipping and hanking, tent pitching, and first aid and safety.

Bingo - Register NOW!! - May 3, 7-8 pm

My Guy and Me Bingo is back! $5 per person and it includes the patch you see for the girl. Please mark your calendar for this super fun event of bingo with your special guy, prizes and cake! Download the flyer (click here) and register early. We can only have 250 people and this event will probably sell out.
Girl Scout Day Camps 2014
There are lots of opportunities for Girl Scout day camps throughout the county. Check out this link to find out more!

Ever get confused about what to do next as a new leader Now, you can check out the Leader Quick Start page on the website. Click here and take a guided tour! For more experience leaders, there is something for you here, too! This can be your "go to" page for important Girl Scout forms and documents you always need.
Bridging Event
Are you interested in a troop bridging event? Bridging is where a Girl Scout troop (or GSI) moves from one level to another. In any given year, 50% of our troops are bridging and we haven't had a formal way to recognize them. The Service Unit is considering organizing a bridging event where girls could come and walk across a bridge and meet up with some other troops (Daisies meet up with Brownies, Brownies with Juniors, etc.) If you are interested in such an event, please email Donna Carter at donnac@j-u.com. If we hold this event, it will take place in June. Thanks!
Mother/Daughter/Leader Recognition Event
Save the Date!! On Thursday, June 12, please join us for an Ice Cream Social event for moms, Girl Scouts and leaders. This is a new event for the Service Unit and we will be recognizing top cookie sellers, top fall product sellers, Bronze, Silver and Gold Award recipients, and saying THANK YOU to all our spectacular volunteers. This will be a fun evening for girls and their moms to come, visit, have ice cream and socialize. More information to come....
Sincerely,
