Heartland Tours - Update May, 2013

Greetings!
It is with sadness that I note that our beloved President Monson's wife, Frances B. Monson, passed away this morning. She will be sorely missed. We love President Monson and offer our prayers and support in this time of his loss. See article on LDS.org HERE. On a happier note, vacation season is upon us and we have had many requests for additional information about visiting the Book of Mormon sites in America's Heartland this summer and fall. Our June Book of Mormon Evidence Tour is now FULL, but there are still some seats available for the July, Sept. and October tours! If you are considering coming on a tour this year, now is the time to make your reservations. We hope this email is helpful in answering some questions that you might have. Some of the most common questions are: 1. Q: Can my family follow the tour bus to the sites and participate in the tour that way? A: We discourage trying to do this because the majority of the information is given during presentations onboard the tour coach, where we have discussions, watch video's, etc. We have tried to accommodate those who wanted to do this and it was very difficult to keep together and much time was lost in keeping track of those not directly on the tour with us. 2. Q. How much walking is involved in the tour? A. Generally anyone who can climb a few stairs (getting on/off the coach) and walk several hundred feet can enjoy the tour. There are certain sites we visit that are longer, and even some hiking for those who feel up to the challenge, but there is nowhere that we visit that would require strenuous walking. We will tell you what to expect at each site and you can decide if you are up to it or not. 3. Q. Is Rod Meldrum and Wayne May both on the entire tour? A. Yes, this year both Rod Meldrum and Wayne May will be on each tour and will be on the tour for the entire trip! This is an opportunity to really become informed about this exciting new research and evidences of the Book of Mormon like no other presentation, book or DVD could do. It is the most comprehensive educational experience possible and everyone that has come has indicated that they learned more than they thought possible. 4. Q. What are the tour itineraries, what will I visit and how long do we stay at the sites? A. We encourage you to join us in these wonderful, inspiring, educational and fun tours exploring the Book of Mormon in America's Heartland! I personally guarantee it will be the tour of a lifetime!

Heartland in the Media - Nephite Explore TV Series Now Airing on KJZZ-TV!
|
The made-for-television documentary series, Nephite Explorer, is now airing in Utah and parts of southern Idaho on KJZZ-TV. Those in this viewing area can watch the Sunday 4:30 or 6:30 pm showings (same episode) through the end of the year!
The show has been an huge hit with LDS audiences as it crosses the world, beginning in Jerusalem, Israel, establishing the importance of covenant and promised lands of God.
Because so many of you receiving our newsletters live outside of the broadcasting area of KJZZ-TV, the producers of Nephite Explorer have agreed to make each episode available on their website the Monday following Sunday's TV programming! Now everyone can watch the series across the world! We would like to thank Ryan Fisher and his team for making their tremendous work available to everyone.

Heartland in the Media - Zelph Account in Deseret News!

Deseret News just ran an article on the Zelph Mound accounts from Zion's camp in Church History. Read the article, Picturing History: Naples-Russell Mound No. 8, by Mormon Historic Sites Foundation Board Member Kenneth Mays. For much more information download the free article by renown LDS Church historian Donald Q. Cannon titled Zelph Revisited by clicking HERE! Then simply click on the green arrow and put in your anti-spam info and you'll be sent a link to the entire article!
Zelph's mound is one of only a handful of locations where Church History and Book of Mormon history intersect! As such is it is similar in significance as the Hill Cumorah, the Nephite Altar at Adam-ondi-Ahman and other such sacred and important historical sites.
It is also one of the sites that you will visit while on one of our amazing tours!

One of the most difficult aspects of this Heartland research is helping everyone interested to gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of all the many evidences of the Book of Mormon that are now before us. We have found that even the most enthusiastic Heartland supporters are often not aware of amazing and exciting discoveries and information pertaining to this research. The tours are, in reality, about the only way for Wayne and I to share with you the most comprehensive education on the subject possible. It is so nice not to have to worry about driving, finding places to eat and stay and we take care of all the mundane things so that you can concentrate on the spirit and learning and rewarding experience together.
I hope that you will determine to join with us this year on one of the most amazing journey's of discovery ever offered to members of the Church. Never before has such incredible evidence been available in support of the cornerstone of our religion. Come and join Wayne and I in this experience together. I've had many people say that they want so much to go and see and experience these sites, but because of one thing or another they feel they might wait until next year. While we are hopeful that the tours will continue, due to conditions in our country and turmoil abroad we never know what next year will bring. If there is any way possible for you to make your wish to see these sites come true, please seriously and prayerfully consider if you should make it happen this year. I know that you will never regret the time you have spent on these sacred grounds.
