 Greetings!

As we end 2012 during this annual season of giving, I would like to take a moment and thank you for supporting Children's Hospital.

The little lives, and the many families you are caring for through your support of The Guilds Child Abuse Prevention & Treatment Endowment, the Guilds Pink Pig Fund and fund-a-need items is humbling.

I invite you to read the Foundation's December e-news Make a difference this season and think about an end of the year gift to Children's.

May you, your family and friends continue to enjoy this holiday season and Happy New Year!

Best wishes,

Guild Members Give Back

Devoted members enjoy improving children's lives

Why do our Guild members work so hard to support Children's Hospital?  We asked that question of our members and the answers were close to their hearts.

One example is the special care baby Brooklyn received at our Maternal Fetal Center.  Will Brooklyn become a third generation Guild member?  My bet is yes - for the same reason Rina Benitez joined La Visionaria Guild, and NICU patient herself.

And let's not forget about the guys!  Our Kids at Heart Guild is all about giving, as their President Tom Brock put it, "...we all have someone or know someone who has been helped by Children's Hospital."

Read more about Brooklyn, Rina and our Kids at Heart Guild in our 2012 Helping & Healing.

Progress Report

Revising the Past, Eyeing the Future

Recently, Todd Suntrapak, Children's CEO, and Dr. J.D. Northway, Children's former CEO (1981-2000), chatted about the past and future of the Valley's only pediatric medical facility in the Process Report.

Part of the discussion was about the Guilds - here's a short part of the conversation:

Q: How do you view the Guilds' role now?

A: (J.D.) For years the Guilds made up the difference between a profit and a loss. As the Hospital grew, that became less of an issue...the main thing is they rallied around us.

(Todd) I agree: the money is one benefit, but the most important benefit the Guilds bring is their commitment and their engagement.  They have made us the children's hospital for all communities in the Valley. We wouldn't be here today if it weren't for the Guilds; we wouldn't have continued to grow. The icing is the money, but the cake is their commitment.

The Guilds Pink Pig Fund

Supporting patients and families through small requests

In addition to organized events and fundraisers, the Guilds also provide immediate funds for hospital projects through The Guilds Pink Pig Fund.  These projects directly affect our patients and families while here at Children's.

In 2012, the Guilds funded $10,710 in special requests.  Here are a few of those items:

  • Boppy Health Care Pillows - PICU
  • Infant clothing & DVD Player - Merced NICU
  • Books & Comfort Cart Items - Palliative Care
  • Cooler Packs - NICU Lactation
  • Glow-n-the-Dark bracelets and toys - Imaging
  • Snacks and Food - NICU Parent to Parent Group
  • Stuffed Animals - Transport Center, Child Advocacy and High Risk Infant Follow-up
  • Treasure Chest Toys and Underwear - Emergency
  • Wigs - Oncology

To see the full list of items supported by the Guilds, please view our website.
