Newsletter for the International Organization of Marianist Lay Communities
The Chapel of the Madeleine is the spiritual cradle of the Marianist Family and served as the gathering place for the first lay Sodality in Bordeaux.  In this spirit, La Madeleine continues to serve as a place for the international MLCs to share the news and events of their region.

Lent 2013 with Faustino

As you begin our Lenten journey, the Marianist Family in Spain invites you to share this Lent with Faustino Perez-Manglano.  This year marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Faustino, a young boy from Valencia, Spain who died at the age of 17 due to Hodgkin's disease.  Although he died young, Faustino radiated joy and serenity to those around him.  He lived a life of faith and desired nothing more than to be at the service of Jesus and Mary.

This Lent, you can share in a daily reflection on the gospel, the words of Faustino, and a meditation from Father Jos Mara Salaverri on a special Faustino blog.  The blog is available in Espaol, English, Franais, and Italiano.  You may find more information on Faustino's life and cause for beatification on the Marianist website.

Regional Assembly in Madrid

Congratulations to the Marianist Lay Communities of the Madrid Region for a successful assembly in December!  The theme of the conference was "Construyendo caminos de vida" or "Building the paths of life."  This is a wonderful example of Marianist communities coming together to share their common life together.  Please see their special publication for pictures and news from the assembly!

World Council of the Marianist Family

The World Council of the Marianist Family met in Rom e on November 14, 15, and 16.  The World Council consists of the Society of Mary, the Daughters of Mary Immaculate, the Alliance Mariale, and the Marianist Lay Communities.  At the meeting, delegates shared news and spoke of Marianist spirituality, communications, our common mission, and various causes for beatification.  Their report is available here in English, Espaol, and Franais.

Also, the World Council has completed a document on Common Mission in the Marianist Family. It is presented as a "living document, both inspirational and motivational":

THE "COMMON MISSION" IN THE MARIANIST FAMILY

LA "MISIN COMN" EN LA FAMILIA MARIANISTA

LA MISSION COMMUNE DANS LA FAMILLE MARIANISTE.
