Website Launches for Oklahoma Tornado Project
Ahead of the Storm The Oklahoma Tornado Project KGOU's newest reporting project, "Ahead of the Storm: The Oklahoma Tornado Project" now has a home on the web. The new website, tornado.kgou.org, launched last week as a repository for broadcast news stories heard on KGOU, plus we'll be adding more online content on the topics of tornados and storm preparedness.

Funding for the project came from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The project is also on Facebook and Twitter so you can follow all the latest news and developments.

 


Spooky Specials for Halloween
The War of the Worlds KGOU has special programs sure to put a tingle down your spine for All Hallows' Eve on Thursday, Oct. 31. At 7 p.m., it's the original 1938 broadcast of Orson Welles' The War of the Worlds. George Takei introduces this 75th Anniversary version. Then at 8 p.m., prepare for Bloody Hell, a Hearing Voices production featuring stories of blood, and hell, along with ESP, Mexico's Bogeyman, monsters and more.
 

New Voice of NPR Funding Credits Takes the Air
Sabrina Farhi Come November, listeners will hear a new voice saying, "Support for NPR comes from ..." and "This [pause] is NPR". Sabrina Farhi is joining NPR in Washington, D.C., as its first full-time announcer. You'll be hearing her voice alongside that of the iconic Frank Tavares, who has voiced NPR's funding credits for more than three decades. Get to know Sabrina through her NPR ProFile, as well as an interview on Here & Now.
 

In Roasts, A Touch Of Fruit Brings Out The Best
pork roast with oranges Roasts have a way of warming us from the inside out, and with fruit accents, they also add a little sweetness. As autumn's days grow short and you have to turn on the lights when you walk in the door, might as well turn on the oven, too. Food writer T. Susan Chang has recipes for chicken, pork, and veggie roasts, with fruit accompaniments, to flavor the coolest of autumn evenings.
 
The Canadian Brass Ticket Giveaway ~ The Canadian Brass in Edmond 
The Armstrong Auditorium welcomes five tremendous brass musicians
 -- each a virtuoso in his own right -- known as The Canadian Brass. On Nov. 7 they'll play from their vast repertoire, from Baroque masters to marches, time-honored favorites to Dixieland, and jazz to Broadway. Enter our drawing for a chance to win a pair of tickets to see these virtuosos on the Armstrong stage.
