Hallmark of Operational Efficiency, and implies that what we are doing should also be effective, in the eyes of many. Business units are praised when they are On-Time and On-Budget. It means that they have delivered puissant performance. Any business leader would be pleased with that! It means sterling service, satisfied customers and stellar profits.

Wait a minute, you forgot to congratulate the C-level leaders who made it possible in the first place! After all, who approved the concept of operation and manner of execution? Who approved the timeline? Who approved the budget? How on earth do you think they approved the proposals, off the tops of their heads? No, the C-level leaders must have already conducted a feasibility study of the Business Unit's proposal, checked if it were in line with current and future operations of the company-at-large, made an initial estimate of the resources available, and then got together to hear your proposal just to see if YOU really understood what you were talking about, and if perhaps you had some wild card idea that might either change things for the greater good or wreak havoc. Either of which could actually be good!

So, when you deliver your next project On-Time, On-Budget, remember to include those who contributed the initial skull sweat, and thank the C-level leaders for THEIR part in making it a success. Have a great project!
