That's right, it's IN! As in INgratitude, that is. Recent news about Alvin Tan and his online disclosures seem to have many people talking about the attitude of gratitude. Or should I say INgratitude?
Let's remember that gratitude is the least deeply felt of all human emotions. How is that so? I'll tell you. It's how the entire "Rights" movement has succeeded in deluding most people into believing that they have a "right" to "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happy-ness". Ok, maybe they even dropped the "pursuit" portion in the last part of that overused phrase. When people think that they have a "right" to anything, gratitude goes out the window. The hip and IN thing is therefore to be ungrateful. However, since gratefulness is still a virtue that is publicly extolled, people have learned how to be grateful with their lips and cruelly ungrateful in their actions. The sooner we decide to own our roles and responsibilities more than our rights, the sooner our society will turn around for the better.
It takes two hands to clap. Stop spoiling our young people and equip them to be successful in life by being appreciative and content, but not filled with stoic complacency. We deserve people like Alvin Tan. Our policies have allowed people like him into our system. Are you surprised at the recent spate of inappropriate behaviour by people in high places? Don't be, you allowed it. We need to take foundationally restorative action today!
