Annual Conference gives $205,058 for children in poverty

LAKE JUNALUSKA, N.C. --  Holston leaders elected a delegation to General Conference. They collected two offerings for children, bagged potatoes and packaged meals for hungry families, and sent supplies valued at $225,680 to Africa. They also voted to "table indefinitely" a petition to change language in the Book of Discipline.

Bishop Taylor fixes ministerial appointments
    
LAKE JUNALUSKA, N.C. -- Bishop Mary Virginia "Dindy" Taylor fixed the 2015-2016 ministerial appointments on June 11, the final day of the Holston Annual Conference. Appointments are effective July 1.

United Methodists stand with AME after church shooting

(UMNS) United Methodists across the U.S. are joining in prayer and offering whatever help they can to their African Methodist Episcopal brothers and sisters after June 17's deadly church shooting in Charleston, South Carolina.

"As a people of faith committed to social justice and opposed to gun violence and racism, we grieve the lives lost and destroyed by this horrendous act of violence," said South Carolina's United Methodist Bishop L. Jonathan Holston in a request for prayer.
