Susannah's House
New faith-based organization helps mothers recover from drug abuse

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee has one of the highest rates of babies born dependent on drugs in the nation, more than tripling in the past eight years into a statewide epidemic. Recognizing a ministry need, Cokesbury United Methodist Church has opened "Susannah's House" in the space vacated last year by Wesley House Community Center.

Holston.org launches successfully on July 15

ALCOA, Tenn. -- Readers are encourage to visit Holston.org, newly re-designed to be "mobile friendly, easy to navigate, and the place where information will live for the Holston Conference," according to the Rev. Carol Wilson, director of communications. The website will continue to be improved in the weeks ahead. Readers are invited to share feedback and suggestions.

Hayes honored by Wesley Woods, featured in 'UM Reporter'

At age 79, the Rev. Bob Hayes is famous for his hiking skills as well as his volunteer spirit. Camp Wesley Woods named a trail for him on July 10, and United Methodist Reporter featured him in an "Aging Well" column on July 3.
