Committed to Lifelong Formation

My roots with the Marianists go quite deep.  I began my lifelong commitment in high school when our diocesan school merged with the Marianist's Don Bosco High School on the south side of Milwaukee. That led to university studies at St.  Mary's University. I later joined the S.M. and became a Marianist Brother. The burning question among lay Marianists at that time was "What is the official way to become a Lay Marianist?" After a number of years in the S.M., I discerned a change in the my commitment to Marianist life. My ministry carried me to Houston after years in school, parish and retreat ministries. I am a founding member of the Pillar of Faith Community in Houston. This year we will celebrate 25 years of Lay Marianist community life.

I am excited about beginning my work as Head of Education with the MLC-NA. I hope to help move the quest to answer the "formation" question for aspiring lay Marianists significantly further down the path. One day soon everyone should be able to answer the question "What is the official way to become a Lay Marianist?"

Census Update - On-Line Form Available!
We have been working on a Lay Marianist Census for the last few months. Thank you to everyone who was able to volunteer, who answered phone calls, and who helped the process along!

In an effort to speed up the process and get your help, we have developed an online registry. Please take a few moments to fill out this brief questionnaire (it's a Google form) so we can ensure your updated contact information and involvement as a member and/or supporter of the Marianist Lay Community of North America.

Each member of a family should register so we have individual emails for future elections, etc.
MLC-NA Leadership Team Update
The Marianist Family Council of North America met this week in San Antonio, TX.  Fr. Marty Solma and Br. Joe Kamis represented the SM, Sr. Laura Leming represented the FMI, and Mike Wasno, Matt Dunn, and Lynette Bernot represented the MLC-NA.

The council spent a good deal of time discussing Lay Marianist formation.  It was a fruitful and invigorating discussion.  Next month, the MLC-NA will be rolling out the document that we have been working on over the past year.  There's more to come as we move towards the 2017 Assembly.
2017 Continental Assembly
(C) GE Mullan-Used with Permission
In 244 days we will have our tri-annual Lay Assembly for the MLC-NA.

This gathering is open to everyone who shares the Marianist Charism - Lay, SM, FMI, members of Marianist associations, retreat centers, or if you just want to learn more about the Marianists.

We're building a family-friendly program that will include Marianist-themed activities for children of all ages.  We hope everyone will consider participating in this fun and faith-filled weekend in Dayton on July 13 to 16, 2017.

We are looking for volunteers to help plan and to help during the assembly.  Consider volunteering as a community!  It's a great way to serve and you already know who's on your team.  Send an email to us by clicking here.

Let us know, when you are available and we will match you up with a project.
