It's Election Season!
In the United States, and probably even worldwide, we are all very aware that it is election season. This is a challenging, historic, and essential time of year for our country.

Likewise, it is election season for MLC-NA! And, just as much, this is a challenging, historic, and essential time of year for our Lay Community.

This is a challenging election in our country. Regardless of our individual political leanings, we are bombarded with commercials, photos, radio shows, conferences, Tweets, and so much more... and there seems to be a negative aura surrounding some of the most popular candidates. We are faced with the challenge of making well-formed, prayerful decisions.

This is a challenging election in our Lay Community too! We have some incredible candidates this year, and the positive energy surrounding all of them is truly remarkable. All six of the candidates on our ballot are deeply committed, in different ways, to our mission and the Marianist Family. We are blessed by such incredible options, and therefore, we are faced with the challenge of making well-formed, prayerful decisions.

This is a historic time for elections in our country. As we know, our out-going President was the first African American male elected to Office. And this time, we recognize the first female nominee from a major U.S. political party.

This is a historic time for elections in our Lay Community too! In 2014, we released a new Strategic Plan which included the development of a new Leadership Model. The 2014 elections brought the first round of leaders, and this month, we are proudly continuing this new model and hosting elections.

Elections of any kind are essential. They determine the future of our country, state, town, club, organization, sport, and even our Lay Community. Candidates present themselves in the best light and offer their hopes and plans for the future. Voters register, learn, and discern. At the end, we celebrate and welcome the newly elected officials and turn to them for leadership.

We hear a candidate's promise to 'Make America Great Again.' Our MLC-NA Leadership Team, candidates, and members, all boldly promise to 'be Church in the modern world.'

Thank you for your attention and prayerful consideration of our MLC-NA Candidates!

Peace,
Mallory
Election Update
Remember to vote! Voting closes on September 18th so please take some time to read about, and prayerfully consider, the candidates who will lead MLC-NA. Voting is available online using the ballot sent via email. If you have questions or did not receive a ballot, please contact  [email protected].

Did you know... the branches of the Marianist family are three different, fundamentally interdependent entities therefore, only members of the lay branch of the Marianist family are invited to vote in the MLC-NA election. According to our bylaws, "members of the vowed religious may not hold office or vote." It is important that the lay branch is independent in voting in our election process to choose the most qualified candidates to serve on our leadership team.
2017 Continental Assembly
(C) GE Mullan-Used with Permission
Only 307 days until the Assembly Opening!

We have received a number of wonderful proposals for workshops and presentations for the Assembly.  Thank you to all who have submitted one.

It's not too late to send in your proposal. Deadline is September 15!

The theme for the Assembly is "Yes, God!" Committing to the Marianist Movement.  We will examine the challenges of our current context of living our Marianist Charism, the challenges of the future, and how we might embrace the two and find food for the journey as we commit to the Marianist Movement.

We invite anyone interested to submit a proposal for a workshop or a keynote as an individual or as a group of individuals, whether or not you are affiliated with the Marianists.

The proposal form can be downloaded by clicking here.
Please return your completed form by September 15, 2016 to  [email protected]

If you have questions about the Assembly to help you shape your idea and proposal, please contact:
Mike Bennett at 513-498-9081 or [email protected] OR

We're building a family-friendly program that will include Marianist-themed activities for children of all ages.  We hope everyone will consider participating in this fun and faith-filled weekend in Dayton on July 13 to 16, 2017.

We are looking for volunteers to help plan and to help during the assembly.  If you and/or your community would like to help, please email us by clicking here.

Let us know, when you are available and we will match you up with a project.
MLC-NA Community News

The North East Marianist Family Council gathered for a "Picnic-Plus" event on August 27th at the Marianist Center in Philadelphia and an adjacent park. After the very enjoyable picnic, we moved to the Center and made note cards to send to Marianist Sister and Brother residents of Siena Woods Assisted Living and Nursing Care in Dayton, Ohio, as well as actively retired Brothers who live on the property and serve the residents. It was a very meaningful and fun gathering for all.

What are you and your community doing?  Take a picture and send it to us so we can include it in an upcoming edition of the e-News.  Waiting for something special?  You're special, your community is special, your gathering is special!   Send us an email.
