Pokmon & Mary's YES!
When Pokmon Go was released a month ago I was not sure what all the buzz was about. I saw people out and about in my neighbourhood, scurrying around, unsure of where they needed to go next. They were curious to discover what was around the corner and as their pace quickened I could see their excitement.

While not being part of the Pokmon phenomenon I could appreciate the excitement it brought forth. I witnessed fathers and sons doing this activity together, I observed teenagers gathering in parks together and I heard lots of laughter.

Father Chaminade encouraged us to "read the signs of the times." What can the Pokmon game teach us? Or, how can we take our current reality and make it into something meaningful?

This is exactly what Mary did. When she said "yes" to what the angel requested of her, it was not without fear and great uncertainty. Her entire journey was not knowing what was around the corner but once she got there accepting that this was where she needed to be.

Next week we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption. While it is sometimes hard to comprehend, we can understand that as Carl Jung explained "it is a mystery of human destiny." What is the mystery we need to discover in our life?

Two thousand years ago, a young Jewish woman changed the world by her "yes." What do we need to say yes to in our life and what mystery can be discovered by doing this?

Peace and joy,

Marg Van Herk- Paradis

2017 Continental Assembly
The Assembly is only 48 weeks away!
(C) GE Mullan-Used with Permission

The Assembly Planning Team invites you to submit a proposal to present a keynote session or lead a breakout session at the 2017 Assembly next July.

If you, or someone you know, would like to share your story, an experience, or engage in a focused dialogue at the Assembly - this is your opportunity!

The theme for the Assembly is "Yes, God!" Committing to the Marianist Movement.  We will examine the challenges of our current context of living our Marianist Charism, the challenges of the future, and how we might embrace the two and find food for the journey as we commit to the Marianist Movement.

Workshop sessions will last roughly an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes. We have one keynote opportunity on Saturday afternoon for an hour and fifteen minutes.

We invite anyone interested to submit a proposal for a workshop or a keynote as an individual or as a group of individuals, whether or not you are affiliated with the Marianists.

The proposal form can be downloaded by clicking here.
Please return your completed form by September 15, 2016 to  AssemblyProposal@mlnna.org

If you have questions about the Assembly to help you shape your idea and proposal, please contact:
