Pentecost - Be Bold!
This past weekend the MLNNA Leadership team gathered for a working retreat. We spent time with Br. Ray Fitz, SM to discuss ecclesial movements and looking at the Family of Mary as the "Marianist Movement." We talked about the importance of the Lay branch and some of the initiatives we have been working on as part of the MLNNA Strategic Plan, especially formation and identity.
"Be Bold," Ray told us. A fitting challenge a week before we celebrate Pentecost when the Apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit and boldly proclaimed the mighty acts of God. We took Ray's challenge to heart the rest of the weekend and the Spirit was with us as we worked through projects making decisions and putting an action plan together. Over the next few months, we will roll out the results of these actions.
MLNNA's success depends on all of its members being bold, get involved, and take action. Below in the newsletter you will read about communities that are taking bold actions, individuals working to put on a fantastic assembly program, the upcoming elections, a census, and other activities to improve MLNNA for the future. We can't do all of this without you and your financial support. Thank you for your continuing support.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Mike Wasno
MLNNA Chair

St. Mary's Marianist Leadership Program is Looking for MLC's to Host Service Trips
In early fall, some students in the St. Mary's Marianist Leadership Program (MLP) will be taking some immersion service trips around the country, specifically cities that have Marianist religious or lay people, for example: Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dayton, St. Louis, and Philadelphia. (How about your city?) The goal of the service immersion trips is to broaden the students' perspective of the Marianist family & connect them with Lay and Religious Marianist. It will also strengthen and better establish the students' Marianist Lay Community identity and mission.
If you and/or your community would like to support this program by hosting 4-5 students & 1 staff member for a 3-night, 4-day experience, please email Brian Buchmeyer.
