Over the past several months, after each trip to the US Post Office (USPS) at De Moss and Rookin, I have become increasingly appalled by the parking lot at the facility. Calls from constituents confirmed my concerns. I recently visited the site to speak with post office representatives about the state of disrepair. Officials at the facility told me they thought the parking lot was City-owned property, leased to the postal service. Needless-to-say, I was surprised to hear that theory.

The District J staff immediately  began to investigate the issue, to ensure speedy repairs. After numerous phone calls and inquiries, it was finally confirmed by both City and USPS officials that the City has no connection to the property. The parking lot is wholly owned by the federal government.

Following upon the District J staff's inquiries, I understand that USPS has obtained a work order to have the parking lot repaired. A contractor has been assigned, and should be on-site soon in preparation of the work.
