hosted 174 African Americans on 24 yachts in the British Virgin Islands.
I have been a sailor for the past thirty eight years. In 1980 -1984, I sailed my thirty-two foot ketch from San Francisco to Florida via the Panama Canal with my wife and two cats onboard.
For the past fifteen years, I have operated Black Boaters Summit, a sailing vacation for African Americans.
Our Director of Captains, Alan Johnson, is an ASA Instructor Qualifier, which means he certifies ASA Instructors. Alan has been sailing for over sixty years.
My wife, Marvelle, operates a program for Chicago youth that takes teens to Ghana once a year.
You 2 Can Sail will focus on sailing, community service, team building and cooperative living.
For those teens who want to continue their sailing training, we offer a series of options leading to safely sailing a 40 foot boat as a captain.
Send us your teens, and especially the boys, to our teen sailing camp. They will return changed people with lots more confidence and lots of sea stories.
And oh yes, you can go too, but on another boat and you will sail a different itinerary.
