Cap'n Paul! This is definitely a scary decision.
What are the risk involved in your sailing camp?
A concerned mom.

Statistically the risk are lower than driving to school or work, playing football or basketball, or skiing, all things that I survived.

Over the past 15 years I've taken about 1600 black folks sailing. We've had a few teens, two participants under five and two over 70.
Not one accident or drowning have we had.

There are three large teen camps operating in the BVI that must run 10,000 kids a summer through their two week program. In forty years of sailing the BVI, I've only seen one black kid, a 15 year old girl.

The biggest risk is that your teen will get hooked on sailing and bring the family into the sport as if you don't have college tuition
staring you in the face.

Cap'n Paul will my teen be able to call me?
Oh yes, oh yes. They can call you right from the boat. Their cell phones work at $3.65 per minute.
But if I were you, I would have them leave their cell phones at home. A little post partum depression is good for both of you.
If it is important, they can always use my phone.

Cap,n Paul, your sailing camp is a little pricy? Do you offer any multiple kid family discounts or scholarships?
Call me. I want to get this program up and running as soon as possible. (773) 924 1947

Cap'n Paul, my husband and I want to go too. We've heard about BBS. Can we participate?
Of course you can. But trust me. You and your child will have a better time if you are NOT on the same boat. Call me and we'll work out some kind of family rate. Maybe we'll change the itinerary so we overnight in the same anchorage.
All things are possible when you are sailing.

Cap'n Paul, In case of a real emergency on board what do you do?
Virgin Island Search and Rescue provides twenty four hour emergency service in the BVI.
We did have to call them on two occasions; one was for heat stroke and the other a heart attach.
Visar responded in less than ten minutes on both occasions and provided medical service and transportation to a hospital.

Cap'n Paul, how do you keep our young gentlemen and ladies in their respective cabins?
I just say NO!.. We have a firm " no making out" policy. You get caught, you go home. End of discussion.
The ladies occupy the forward two cabins and the guys the aft two cabins. In the salon separating the two cabin groups is the
salon with our chaperon will sleep with one eye open.
