8th Grade Parents
Attention 8th Grade Parents
Our next meeting will take place on Thursday, April 9, 2015, at 7:00p.m. in the OLP Church Social Room.

We need everyone's help to make make graduation events memorable for our children.  If anyone has any questions, please call Bea Blenner, 8th Grade Graduation Chair, at (814) 440-9116 (cell) or email her at

Graduation Night Bowling

In recent years, the 8th Grade Graduating Class has gathered together for a night of bowling following their Graduation Dance. The activity is an optional event for the students to attend if they are interested.Students who attend Graduation Night Bowling must have transportation to/from the bowling lanes, sign in upon arrival and sign out when picked up. There will be parent chaperones.

 

 

The cost is $10.00 per student and that includes bowling and shoes.  A flyer with the above information and an envelope will be sent home.

If your child wishes to attend, please send the $10 fee to school by May 20th in an envelope marked with your child's name to the attention- Sara Huber 8A.Once the money is turned in, the student will receive a pass needed for their admission for the bowling.

 

 

CALLING 7TH GRADE FAMILIES--
We will be  meeting on Tuesday March 31, 2015, at 5:30p.m. in the cafeteria to plan and organize for the 8th Grade Tea to be held after graduation on June 1st.  All are welcome to attend and help plan this event for our 8th graders!!!

Girl Scouts
Thank you to all 78 "islanders" who attended Girl Scout Troop 36719's 1st Annual He/She Aloha Paradise Party Saturday night. A super fun time was had by all and over 100 items were donated to the Marie House Project! But, more importantly, a huge thank you and applause to the 4th grade Junior Scouts who planned the entire party and collected donations for this charity in order to earn their Bronze Award - Rachel Friedemann, Katie Hutchinson, Cassy Lilley, Julia Mackowski, Kasey Rohrbach and their assistant leader Joy Mackowski. AWESOME job ladies!
Cub Scouts' Pinewood Derby

Our Lady of Peace Cub Scouts Pack 59 held their annual Pinewood Derby on Saturday, March 14, 2015. The boys grades K-5 made their own race cars out of wood, decorated and painted them, and raced them down the track to see who had the fastest time.

Athletics
Soccer
Congratulations to the OLP Boys' Varsity Soccer team!  They played in the annual Icebreaker tournament held at Erie Premier Sports.  It was a wonderful full day of soccer facing several great teams.  They earned the second place trophy!  Way to go, boys! 

Basketball Free Throw Competition
Emma Sanders competed in the State Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Competition in State College, PA. She was one of eight regional winners who went on to compete at the state level. Emma finished third overall and brought home a bronze trophy.  Congratulations, Emma!

Track and Field

Track and Field season is getting ready to get started!!!! OLP Track and Field is open to all OLP students in 1-8th grade.  For the younger grades-- it is great opportunity to get out, get moving and try something new; For the older grades-- it is a great opportunity to get a feel for track and field before high school----TRACK HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE!!!   
All are welcome to get more information on THURSDAY APRIL 9 @ 7PM in the cafeteria.  I will have information on the  events and practices as well as information on the meets -- there are 3 meet opportunities this year!!  I will also have the necessary paperwork available.

Athletic Board

The OLP Athletic Board currently has two open seats for its general membership and are setting up interviews for interested candidates. Candidates must be a parent or guardian of a student attending Our Lady of Peace School and should be available to attend the monthly meeting held the first Tuesday of every month. The athletic board consists of twelve men and women whose mission is to broaden and enhance the education experience of our students in the Catholic Tradition by supporting their interests in athletics and in preparing the students for future participation in organized sports, while maintaining good sportsmanship.

Coaches Needed for Fall 2015

2015 OLP CASINO NITE

SAVE THE DATE:

OLP's annual Casino Nite will take place at Rainbow Gardens on Saturday April 25, 2015.  Doors open at 6pm, and the Event runs all night with Horse Racing, Card Games, and several Games of Chance not to mention the Grand Prize drawing.  Enjoy these games, food and beverages with your Cash Back admittance ticket.

 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:

Please consider volunteering your time, even if only for one hour.  The proceeds of this event fund the parish, school, and athletics programming.  Several stations are in need of volunteers!  Please contact Kurt Spence at spence003@gannon.edu if you are able to volunteer this night.

The fifth and sixth grade students and teachers celebrated Seder Meal this morning with Fr. David and Miss Ek.  This OLP tradition commemorates Israel's freedom from the slavery of Egypt and prefiguring the Christian meal of freedom, the Eucharist.
