Robert Watkins addresses Project Xcel students
"The development of a young mind is a gift to an entire generation," stated Robert Watkins, chief executive officer of Conquer Worldwide, based in Atlanta, Georgia.
Watkins spoke at the MET Center on Nov. 10, addressing students enrolled in STLCC's Project Xcel program, a training initiative for young people aging out of the foster care system.
Read on to learn the six key thought processes that Watkins urged students to practice for success.

Leadership for Life: Right Stuff, Wrong Job
Leadership for Life - Right Stuff, Wrong Job Most leaders have finally gotten the message that hiring the right people and keeping them is the best way to make a business thrive. Unfortunately, many of these same organizations have neglected to pay attention to what happens after the right people are hired.
In too many cases, the right people may be put into the wrong jobs, leading to failure all around. In other cases, the right people may encounter workplace obstacles that have been around for a long time, and which interfere with productivity.

Congratulations to the college's long-standing partner, the St. Louis Business Journal, which received the News Media Award from the Missouri Community College Association at the MCCA Convention Nov. 5-7 in Branson, Missouri.
The Business Journal was recognized for its partnership efforts with St. Louis Community College on the annual State of the St. Louis Workforce Report as the media partner for six consecutive years and the cosponsor of the award-winning Master Class series at the Forest Park campus since 2011.
We salute Talisen Technologies, Inc., a long-time training partner of the Workforce Solution Group of STLCC. Talisen's Enterprise Sustainability Platform (ESP) has recently been branded as the "New York Energy Manager" and will be the tool used to ensure the state will meet Gov. Cuomo's Executive Order 88, to reduce energy consumption in state-owned buildings by 20 percent by the year 2020.
