It is hard for all of us to believe Labor Day is already next weekend. A bittersweet holiday, many of us are squeezing all we can from these final days of the season to make lasting memories. This week's Special Feature highlights my favorite outdoor things to do while staying local and enjoying the tranquility.

The High Line (West 13th & Washington Streets) Every Tuesday until October you can peek into high powered telescopes on the High Line and chat with the experts.

Intrepid Museum - Pier 86 - Hudson River Park (at 46th Street)

Pierre Huyghe's minimalist installation is mystifying and adds to the view.

LOUNGE: It's easy to get to the beach... just hop on the Long Island Railroad to get off at Long Beach. Just a 5 minute walk gets you right on the sand. There is a fee to get onto the beach, but it's worth it to be away from larger crowds and have a pleasant day. Click here for top beach picks.
NYCRuns hosts a 5K/10K on September 7th on another island... Roosevelt Island. End the run with an ice cream cone to cool you off. DRINK:
