HHS Publishes Draft of "Exchange" Application
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has published a draft version of the individual application that will be used for Public Exchange enrollments starting on October 1, 2013. The application and instructions are fairly lengthy and may require knowledge of technical insurance terminology for applicants to make a truly informed selection of an Exchange plan. Grandfathered and Non-Grandfathered Plans Must Comply with 90-Day Limit on Waiting Periods Beginning in 2014
Newly issued proposed rules address compliance with the 90-day limitation on waiting periods for group health plans under Health Care Reform. The rules apply to both grandfathered and non-grandfathered group health plans. Among other things, the rules address compliance requirements, key factors such as the definition of "eligibility," cumulative hours conditions, methods for counting days, "effective date" and "enrollment date" definitions. In addition, the rules include other changes to existing requirements that have become moot or need amendment due to new provisions under Health Care Reform. Learn more <back to top> |
