How to Update Your Falcon Flyer Subscription

I hope you are enjoying your summer.  This is the time of year when many students are moving on to a new school.  We want to be sure that you receive all of the relevant information for your child.  It is important that subscribers update their profiles and be sure that The Falcon Flyer continues to be able to communicate with all of our parents and community members. Each building is able to communicate with their parents with information that is relevant only to that school. In order to be sure you are signed up for the correct building(s) please update your Falcon Flyer subscription TODAY! Follow the steps below to get information on updating your profile. The rollover for the new school year has been completed.  You should now be receiving emails from the schools you selected in addition to the Falcon Flyer.  If you are experiencing any difficulties with your subscription throughout the year, please contact Liz Scott.

1. Click this link and type in your email address that receives the Falcon Flyer.

(Please note if you have multiple emails registered, you will have to do it for each address).

2. Click "Join"

3. Click the submit button to have the update email sent to your email address.

4. Check your email, follow the prompts and select the appropriate boxes. Everyone should continue their subscription to the Falcon Flyer. Remember this will give you district wide news and emergency information. Then select all schools for which you wish to receive updates.

5. If you are a resident who does not have children in the district or if you are a senior citizen in the community, there is nothing for you to do. All of your information will come through the regular Falcon Flyer.

If there are no school changes for your child, there is nothing else for you to do.  I do hope that those parents who had children graduate this year, will continue their subscription to the Falcon Flyer.  You can simply deselect the specific school and get only notifications from me.  We will continue to provide our entire community with relevant community event information, Senior Citizen Corner news, and emergency updates, in addition to the regular school news.  If you are moving out of the Burlington Township community, simply select unsubscribe at the bottom of any newsletter and you will be removed from our mailing list.

I would like to thank you personally for taking the time to update your profile. My goal is to ensure you have all of the information you need for the schools and community.

If you have any questions or difficulty with this update, please contact me personally and I will assist you.

Child Find for Special Education Services
Special Education Services: Students with disabilities that significantly impact upon their educational progress may be eligible for special education and related services. Upon referral, the Child Study Team (School Psychologist, Learning Consultant and Social Worker) will meet with the family to discuss concerns and to determine if evaluation is necessary. If a student is found to be eligible, an Individual Education Program (I.E.P.) will be developed to meet the educational needs of the student. Programs may include accommodations and modifications in the general education setting to small class instruction with a special education teacher. All decisions regarding the IEP are discussed at least annually and the parent/guardian is encouraged to be an active participant in the process.

Preschool for Students with Disabilities: Do you suspect that your child is slow in developing language or find he/she is having difficulty socializing with others? Your child may be eligible for the Burlington Township School District's Preschool Disabilities Program. This program is open to children between the ages of 3 and 4 years 11 months. For further information contact the Child Study Team Office at 609 387 3955 ext. 2060 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

HIB Reporting Tool

The Burlington Township School District strongly believes that student safety is a fundamental right. Students must be given the opportunity to learn in an environment of trust and support. To that end, we fully embrace the newly-enacted Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights and related board policies.

If a parent or student believes bullying has occurred, the matter should immediately be reported to the Principal, Vice Principal, and/or School Anti-Bullying Specialist.

Parents are also able to report incidents by using the District online tool.

Channel 6 Save  a Live

Burlington Township participates in the Channel 6 ABC Save A Life Program. As a result of this program, free smoke detectors  are available to any resident of Burlington Township who needs them. Contact the Fire Department (609-239-5851) to receive them.

If you do not have smoke detectors in your home, please make this phone call today.  If you know someone in your neighborhood without smoke detectors, save a life and pass this information along. Remember to check the batteries in your detectors regularly.

The fire department will also make arrangements to install your fire detector.  You can also have a home safety inspection completed by the experts.

These few steps could save a life.

The Falcon is Flying High!
Rare Respiratory Virus EV-D68

This is just a public service announcement for all of our families.  Although it is reported that this virus has not hit our area at this time, it is important that we become proactive as a community to help minimize the spread of viruses.  Please remind your children to wash their hands with soap and water.

What can be done to prevent it?

Like other enteroviruses, the respiratory illness appears to spread through close contact with infected people. That makes children more susceptible.

There's not a great deal you can do, health officials say, beyond taking common sense steps to reduce the risk.

Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds -- particularly after going to the bathroom and changing diapers.

Clean and disinfect surfaces that are regularly touched by different people, such as toys and doorknobs.

Avoid shaking hands, kissing, hugging and sharing cups or eating utensils with people who are sick. And stay home if you feel unwell.
