IDENTIFYING SELF-LIMITING HABITS

In our last issue 237, I asked you to list 3 self-limiting habits and to come up with an idea to change or eliminate one habit. Today I'll share with you a 3 step action plan to accomplish that. In addition to the self-limiting habits listed in our last issue, here are some others:

Not being positive

Not taking responsibility (blaming others)

Not establishing boundaries (saying yes to everything)

Not completing a project

Eating candy/junk food under stress

Spending more than you earn

CREATING YOUR NEW SUCCESSFUL HABIT

I recommend you create your new successful habit and list at least 3 benefits. Then create a specific 3 part action plan.

EXAMPLE OF AN ACTION PLAN FOR A NEW SUCCESFUL HABIT

For example, someone spends more than they earn and has no regular savings or investment plan. As a consequence, that person may have to admit that he/she may never be able to retire and may become dependent on his/her children or the government. On the other hand, the benefits of a successful new habit would be financial peace, more travel, more fun, more money to give to charity, and the means to create a legacy for your family or your causes, etc.

Before beginning the 3 step action plan, the person would first create his/her new successful habit as, "I shall invest 10% of my income every month."

A three step action plan (as recommended by Jack Canfield) would be as follows:

  1. I will hire a reputable financial planner/advisor within 30 days.
  2. I will establish a monthly automatic withdrawal from my bank account into the investment/savings account.
  3. I will make a list of my expenditures and reduce them by 10%.

I commit to this plan as of today-August 12th, 2013.

EXERCISE

I invite you to do the following:

  1. Identify one self-limiting habit
  2. Create and define a new successful habit (be courageous) and list at least 3 benefits
  3. Create your 3 step action plan

I regularly coach people in helping them create, define, and implement their new successful habit. I am available to assist you. Invest in yourself. You are worth it!

I look forward to hearing from you.
