Greetings!
Last month, we featured a story about Tony. If you missed it, you can read the story here. This month, Tony was paid a special visit by Rooms for Change. Rooms for Change, brainchild of Karon Fields, is a nonprofit agency created to ensure youth leaving the foster care system are afforded the opportunity to live in a home environment that supports their well being and which ultimately improves the quality of their lives. This is a goal near and dear to the heart of Youth Homes.
Rooms for Change provides free interior design services and free furniture! Pictured here is a brand new table for Tony with settings to brighten up his quaint little apartment. Youth Homes would like to thank Karon and her team of volunteers that work hard to help brighten the lives of others. Keep up the good work! |

Youth Homes Community Spotlight
Youth Homes was recently chosen to be a non-profit partner for the 2012-13 NEWSMAKERS Lesher Speaker Series. This non-profit program works to offer insightful speakers as well as promoting the East Bay's non-profit community. Last month, Youth Homes had the wonderful opportunity to partner with David Gergen, well known political analyst. The event included a special private reception and a pre-event meet and greet with Mr. Gergen.

Youth Homes would like to thank the Lesher Foundation for the prestigious honor of participating in this very special event.

Community Giving
On October 9th, volunteers from Soroptimist International 24-680, a non profit supporting girls and women, showed up at Andersen House with soil, mulch, various plants and even a crepe myrtle tree for planting.
These lovely ladies spent three hours making the front yard look beautiful! On behalf of our youth, we extend a very special THANK YOU to Soroptimist International for all your support! You continue to help us be the place where hope lives and grows.
