This year, at many local FPKids clubs, students couldn't wait to pray. Many prayed for their families, their friends, for the school day to go well and for everyone to stay safe and follow the rules. During testing weeks, students would ask God to help them focus and do well. It's amazing to me the heart of young students not ashamed or bashful about talking to God.
Each school seemed to have something in common all across the area. Students prayed for their lost friends to come to know Jesus. Many would call out the names of students and pray to God for them to ask Jesus into their hearts and live for Him. Tears would fill some little eyes and stream down faces as they prayed. It was serious for them, and they would leave each week on a mission to share their hope in Christ and what they had learned that week.
What stood out to me most this year was a young lady who came back from doing the Gospel Step-Up and said, "My friend said Jesus is her Lord!" She was so excited that her friend heard John 14:6 and found out that Jesus is our only way to Heaven and we need to ask Him (Jesus) into our heart.
Stories like this are not uncommon at many clubs. Students are passionate about prayer and put faith into action when praying. Confidence is key when praying. We have a Father that hears us and loves us. In the Bible, 1 John 5:14 tells us, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us." Faith comes to life in young students because they don't doubt that God can do anything they ask.
What an awesome year of answered prayers when you hear things like this: "My friend accepted Jesus, My mama was healed, My dad came home, I passed my test, I didn't get in trouble all week."
Prayer works if you will just be bold and do it.
