Hotel Management Team Announced,

Job Fair Today & Tomorrow

The executive team that will manage Laie's new Courtyard by Marriott hotel was recently announced. All are well-qualified members of our own community with local roots.

General Manager David Betham was hired several months ago (click here
for our December 30, 2014 newsletter for more information). A long-time Ko'olauloa resident, Betham oversees all aspects of the hotel's operation.

 

Joining Betham are:

Assistant General Manager Micah Casey was born and raised in Punaluu and resides in Hauula with his wife Terava and their two daughters and one son. He is a graduate of Kahuku High-School and BYU-Hawaii. After graduation, Micah underwent a year-long training in Marriott's hotel management program and was later hired at the 1,310 room Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa where he worked in various hotel management positions over the last seven years. 

Executive Housekeeper Uheina Hanohano, known to many as Heina, was born and raised in Kahuku and resides in Laie with her husband Clayton. She is a graduate of Kahuku High School and BYU-Hawaii. Heina was the Executive Assistant Housekeeper at the 2,860 room Hilton Hawaiian Village, scheduling room attendants and housemen requiring a staff of over 400 people each day. Heina has over nine years of Housekeeping management experience.

Director of Maintenance/Engineering Iafeta Sao is a 30-year member of the community. Iafeta and his wife Linda live in Hauula and have four children. He is a graduate of BYU-Hawaii and an Operation "Desert Storm" veteran. Iafeta brings a wealth of experience from his tenure in facilities maintenance at BYU-Hawaii, and his training as a graduate of the APPA Institute of Facilities Management.

 

Director of Sales Milton Lafitaga was born on Oahu and resides with his wife in Kahaluu, with two daughters in college. A former student at BYU-Hawaii, he has over fifteen years of hospitality experience from five star hotels to multi-brand managed hotels to cruise line work. His extensive experience and understanding of the traveling consumer will set the Courtyard in the right direction.


 

Hotel Job Fair Today & Tomorrow


As previously announced, a j
ob fair is being held this Thursday and Friday on the BYU-Hawaii campus from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Heber J. Grant building.

Full and part-time positions are available, including supervisory / management positions. Any and all interested applicants are invited to attend!

 


 

"We expect to employ about 50 people, both full-time and part-time employees in hotel management, maintenance, housekeeping, front desk, and food service positions," said David Betham, general manager for the Laie hotel.
