Aloha ,

Earlier this year we announced that qualified applicants in our community were being sought to head up the new Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Laie.

Today the operator of the hotel, Lodging Dynamics, announced that Laie resident, David Betham, has accepted the position of General Manager for the new hotel.

"We are very happy and pleased that Dave has accepted this position," said Arthur Holman, Vice President of Operations for Lodging Dynamics. "We began our search some time ago and received great resumes from across the globe, many with connections to Hawaii and to Oahu. Ultimately, we narrowed our selection to a number of qualified applicants with local roots and ties -- we knew it was important to get the right person in place to lead this hotel. We met some amazing candidates through the process."

New General Manager, David Betham, said, "I am grateful for the opportunity to work in my backyard, and with members of our community. I am excited at the prospect of working with the outstanding team at Lodging Dynamics. Our Laie community has anxiously awaited this development, and we truly see this as a blessing for our community."

Betham added, "I have full faith that as a team, we can make this property a jewel in Lodging Dynamics' portfolio, the assets of the owners, and to our North Shore and Windward communities."

Betham, a long-time Laie resident, will oversee all aspects of the new hotel's operation, including implementation of brand service strategy and initiatives. He has a 30-year hospitality background that includes hotels on Oahu in operations and finance positions. He started his career with Turtle Bay Hilton. Betham has also worked in a number of other travel-related and tourism industries in Hawaii, including the Polynesian Cultural Center. He is a graduate of BYU-Hawaii with a degree in Business Administration.

Betham's wife, Cindy, has been a teacher at Laie Elementary for more than 20 years. They take great pride in their "blended" family of 11 children, and are grateful Betham will no longer need to commute more than an hour to work.

Holman added that the hiring of qualified individuals in other key positions will soon be announced and posted as well, including the Director of Sales, Assistant General Manager, Executive Housekeeper, and Chief Engineer. "We will work with David on the final selection for these positions." The hotel is on schedule for its targeted opening in the Summer of 2015.
