Good News: No Cancer!

Just a little follow up on a recent newsletter article regarding my doctor removing a suspicious mole from my back just before I went to Florida for vacation.  Praise the Lord! It was normal. Although many of you would say: Helen, you are not really normal!!  OK, I get it, but the test came back normal--no cancer.

It's important to reduce your risk of developing skin cancer by using an effective sunscreen year round. The recipe for the natural sunscreen I gave you in the August 28 newsletter really does work!  If you didn't get it, here's a link to the newsletter. If enough people request it, I will make a huge batch for a minimal cost!

Fall Fashion Trends

MAKEUP MAVENS

Fall makeup trends range from Neon to Nude all with a metallic look!  Nudes are anything but natural with mannequin-like perfection. Neutrals have never looked so good.  Neon shadows and lips have a fluorescent vibe. That's a little shocking, so don't wear them all at once!

The smokey eye look is still bigger than ever and I can teach you how to do it for your eye shape.

I'VE GOT YOU COVERED

If you are handy with the sewing machine, you might want to take up a blanket and turn it into a coat because blanket coats will be hot this Fall.

If you are the sporty type, look for high tech jackets like the ones that change color when the temperature changes.

Get a cape this Fall if you don't already have one. They seem to be getting longer and all dolled up.  I love the newly-styled peacoat. This classic military style has been feminized to show off figures with a flare.

SHOE FLIES

I love shoes and I go through them pretty fast.  Here's what's trending according to Instyle  Magazine.

Suiting

Pumps and flats in classic menswear fabrics like herringbone and tweed will be popular this Fall.

Snake Print

This reptile print is more seductive than ever in the classic pump, slinky sandals, and sophisticated flats.

Peekaboo

You'll see 'cutout designs' from boots to high heels that flash a little skin even in the Winter.

Embellished

Glitter, rhinestones, and beading turn up the voltage on evening wear.

Colorblock

Vibrant shades coupled with slick neutrals add a graphic exclamation point to any look.

Space Age

Back to the future with holographic details and gleaming metallic finishes worn with classics keeps them guessing.

THE TOP SIX TRENDS ACCORDING TO COSMO!

Sporty Brights

Think athletic flare with a feminine edge in bold colors.  This look is not for me, but all you soccer moms don't have to look so boring.  Did I say that?

Ladylike Leopard

Now this is a trend I will pounce on.  This is my favorite animal print and it looks best on Spring and Autumn skin tones.  You cool girls (Summer and Winter skin tones) should wear this away from your face, since there is so much gold and caramel coloring in this print.

Strong Suiting

A great suit is another favorite of mine.  Stock up on these, girls, because they can be mixed and matched and dressed up or down.  Avoid double-breasted if you have large breasts or have broad shoulders.

Sophisticated Fringe

You'll have to buy something with fringe this Fall.  Think skirt with fringe, chunky sweater, and heels.  Think fringy purse, skinny jeans, and leather jacket.  Just one fringe at a time, please!

All White

The monochromatic look is another favorite of mine. This look gives a great slimming effect, even if it is white.  Warm girls stick with winter white and creams and cool chicks wear true white with winter whites.  Accessorize with metallic jewelry and mix up textures to pull this look off.  Yes, Virginia, you can wear white after Labor Day!

Military Chic

Army jackets trimmed in fur, skinny jeans, and peekaboo boots make for an edgy casual look.  Remember, skinny jeans don't look good on everyone, so this look may not be for you.

Let's Work Together to Save Lives.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Girls, it's Breast Cancer Awareness month. Don't forget to schedule your annual mammogram. This simple step could save your life.

If you have dense breasts or have had breast problems in the past, ask your doctor about getting a 3D mammogram and/or a breast sonogram/ultrasound. According to a breast cancer expert featured on Good Morning America, about 50 percent of women have dense breasts. It's more difficult to spot cancer in dense breasts and these extra procedures provide doctors more detailed images to view and compare.

Some insurance companies won't cover the cost of these extra procedures, so check with your doctor to find women's health centers that provide affordable or low cost 3D mammograms and sonograms/ultra sounds.
