We're pleased to present you the August 2014 update with

a special message from Tracee J. Swank,

Leader of Church Doctor Ministries!

On the Horizon for SEND North America

In December of 2009 over a father-son lunch at a local Pizza Hut a vision was cast for a new initiative to raise up young adults with intensive and focused discipleship, spiritual formation, and leadership training. This was the birth and the beginning of Servants Equipping New Disciples (SEND North America). Following that lunch conversation came months of praying, planning, and seeking God's will to launch this new initiative and movement through the already established ministry foundation of Church Doctor Ministries.

Tracee Swank
Strategic and financial planning, curriculum blue prints, teachers, mentors, support partners, and many other parts and pieces came together to officially launch SEND North America in September 2011. We have successfully completed three full seasons of SEND and the results have been more than we could have hoped for. SEND North America is the answer to our prayer for reaching, resourcing, and releasing young adults, and for fulfilling our mission: "The transformational change of the Christian Church toward the effective implementation of the Lord's Great Commission to make disciples of all peoples." We have been blessed to be actively engaged in doing exactly what we felt called and led to do. We are servants equipping new disciples.

You have read many of the testimonies and stories in the newsletters and on our SEND website. We continue to hear back from the young adults who participated in SEND how transformational their experience was for them. I have personally met with the young adults who have completed the SEND experience and their personal stories are exciting to hear, along with how their SEND experience is helping them in their current endeavors.

As with any new initiative, the launch of SEND is still in the early stages of growth, and untapped potential exists. We thank God for the prayer partners, donors, financial support, granting foundations and organizations, teachers, staff team, ministry friends, and partners who have continued to support this initiative. You realize how important reaching, resourcing, and releasing young adults through the SEND experience is to the advancement of God's Kingdom!

To ensure the SEND experience continues to be of high quality in the areas of leadership, spiritual formation, and discipleship, and to answer God's call and vision to further develop SEND, we would like to share with you some updates and plans on the horizon for SEND.
  • Kenzie Hackelberg
We have called a full time young adult coordinator, Kenzie Hackelberg (more info). Kenzie is leading efforts to identify faithful, available, teachable young adults with the gift of leadership, mission, and faith to join future SEND Units and to raise up future SEND Unit leaders.
  • Future SEND North America Units based at the northeast Indiana training center will be led by two leaders, one male, one female.
  • Plans for potential SEND training unit sites launching in 2015 and 2016 include locations in Ohio, Arizona, and an international site in Central America. We anticipate additional sites in Indiana.
  • Focus groups have been formed consisting of ministry partners, young adults, and ministry leaders to continue to develop and advance the movement by providing critical input and feedback needed to multiply the movement.
  • Ongoing relationships are being formed with Christians in local areas and marketplaces to assist with job placement for young adults while in SEND and to assist with the housing of young adults.
  • The Reaching Young Adults workshop will be offered to churches, pastors, and ministry leaders throughout the remainder of 2014 and 2015.
  • The next SEND unit will launch in January 2015 and run through September 2015. Another unit will launch in September 2015 and run through June 2016.
  • The Damascus Road missions training DVD series will become available to churches in the Spring of 2015. This DVD training series will offer adults who are not able to participate in SEND the chance to receive the same core missions training as the young adults in SEND.

We feel God's continued call to further develop SEND as an initiative of Church Doctor Ministries. We ask for your continued prayer support and thank God for each one of you reading this. If you would like to know more about how to support SEND please contact John Wargowsky at [email protected].

We are excited about the future of SEND and we are excited about how this experience is transforming young adults. We remain committed to the vision of being servants equipping new disciples.

God Bless You,
