Free Webinar Cover Crop Series

nacd LOGO NACD is pleased to be a sponsoring partner of a "Cover Crops" webinar series hosted by the American Society of Agronomy (ASA). Because NACD is a sponsor, conservation district representatives are invited to participate in the webinar series free of charge.

Improving soil health not only cleans up water quality and reduces soil loss, but also provides a better environment for cash crops to succeed. This ASA webinar series will focus on cover crops and their implications on soil health, maximizing yields, livestock considerations, and crop management

Planned webinar dates are March 6, 13, 20 and 27, 2014. For more information and to register, click here

Clean Water, Healthy Lands Workshop

Attention farmers, landowners, and conservation professionals! You are invited to attend the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's Clean Water, Healthy Lands workshop on Friday, March 14, 2014. Pesticide and conservation planning credits will be offered for this workshop which will focus on stream ecology, water quality, agricultural regulations and pesticide use and management. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Bernard Sweeney, Director of Stroud Water Research Center. Dr. Sweeney will present a very informative, scientifically proven and logical explanation of why it is best to have forests growing along our streams.

Other speakers will discuss the following topics: manure management, agricultural regulations, controlling invasive plants in forested buffers, effects of pesticides in the environment, and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's Buffer Bonus Program. In addition, awards will be presented to local conservation agencies for their success with forested buffers.

Don't miss this great opportunity to learn about how your land interacts with your local streams. Farmers and others will obtain a wealth of useful information from this workshop.

Clean Water, Healthy Lands will be at the Centre Hall Lions Club, 153 E. Church Street, Centre Hall, PA 16828, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Sign in begins at 9:30 that morning. Free lunch and morning refreshments will be provided. The workshop is free but registration is required. Click here for the event brochure. To register, please email Frank Rohrer at frohrer@cbf.org or call 570-295-6164 by March 6.
