First, as I suggested last week, I will be shifting the frequency of Reflections from weekly to biweekly. Reflections essays are a venue for responding to everyday events in fresh ways, digging for insights that can transform challenges into learnings and setbacks into celebrations.
That change, in turn, makes room for Project Big Seven-Oh (B70). I expect to post those biweekly emails (alternating with Reflections), reporting on my effort to age "consciously" and inviting you to share from your own adventures.
I will continue to follow a weekly format for Sharing the Journey, a year-long series designed for personal growth and behavioral change. That series began in January with the intent of running for a year. Each weekly email includes a topical essay, several prompts for personal reflection, and recommended reading. I initially limited Sharing the Journey to a small group who began together and intended to stay engaged for the full year. However, anyone who wants to start in the middle of the process is welcome to join even now. Past issues are easily accessible in the archives.
In addition to email series, I continue to offer personal coaching for a limited number of clients. I feature e-mail based coaching, though I also serve an in-person or phone-based client from time to time. Check out my website for details.
Finally, I have compiled 100 favorite Reflections into a book, Going Deeper. Signed copies can be purchased direct from me. Click here to order.
I have so enjoyed learning and serving as a life coach. I am invigorated by sharing the journey with others who want to live happier and healthier lives. With time, my practice has evolved to emphasize written communication over public speaking and in-person coaching. The written medium employs my love of words, my temperament as an introvert, and my desire for a flexible schedule in retirement from a full-time career.
I still struggle with the question of charging for products and services. I love the freedom of offering value without asking for compensation. I have also been encouraged to monetize that value. For now, I will continue offering free subscriptions to email series, charging only for personal coaching and book sales. In the future, I may package some email series as ebooks for sale at a modest price, and I may develop one or more online classes, which would entail a charge.
