Cracking the Code

Many of you have asked about the meaning of the codes used to identify items in the OGAP item bank. For example, in the Fraction Item Bank, items that begin with CB involve "Comparing to a Benchmark." Click here to download a chart of the explanation of all the codes: OGAP Item Bank Codes.

Note that we have also loaded these charts into Absolute Safe, and you can find them on your iPad in the folder named "OGAP Resources."

Remember that in the eTool you can now view the item bank from the main menu and scroll through by item code. Tap on the gray boxes at the bottom of the window to jump to that section of the item bank.
Action Item
If you are an experienced OGAP teacher, check your Notifications in the eTool for Item Usage Reports. Which types of items did you give most often last year? Find a category that you did not use, and explore that section of the item bank to find some problems that you can try out in your upcoming units.

If you are new to OGAP, explore the multiplicative and fraction item banks from the main menu of the eTool. See Choosing an Item and Varying Problem Structures for more helpful hints on selecting items.
