God built us to be relational beings; even the most introverted of us are on a constant quest for human contact. In this brave new world of cyber communications we can get our relational contact fix via text, tweets, Facebook posts, online games, online dating, online shopping and a plethora of other platforms designed to keep us attach instantly to the world and people around us.

Our relational desires extend beyond human contact; as humans, God built us to want and to seek out a God. A superior being that will serve our needs to:

  • Justify our existence,
  • Look to for guidance,
  • Bring understanding to a troubled world

In short as humans We All Need A God.

In additional to being relational beings God built us to have free will the ability to think, act and to choose whatever God we want. Clearly exercised that right look at some of the Gods we have chosen:

  • The God of Money
  • The God of Fame
  • The God of Sex
  • The God of Drugs
  • The God of Work
  • The God of no God
  • The God of Celebrity
  • The God of All Things Material

And the list goes on and on... Why? Because as humans: We All Need A God.

Since God knew that we would go around chasing after other Gods; He has provided us with reminders some understated, some not so ----that He is the God that we should chose.

So as a public service to those who are in search of a God, here are three reasons to choose the God that I serve.

Reason One: Unlike other Gods the God I serve is everlasting

Look at the God you are serving now. How durable is He?

The Gods of money, fame, sex, drugs, work, no God, and all things material will all some way and some way pass away.

  • We can run out of money or not have enough of it to meet our needs and wants
  • We can lose our fame and go from popular to unpopular in an instant
  • When sex is treated as a God it can soon become unenjoyable and unfulfilling
  • The high from drugs can become more and more elusive
  • Work can be easily taken away with layoffs and firings
  • The belief in the God of no God becomes questionable each time something that we can't understand or explain happens
  • The God of all things material is totally dependent on our acquiring and maintaining more material things.

The God I serve and His son Jesus Christ is durable and consistent:

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." Hebrews 13:8

The God I serve thinks so highly of us that He wants to extend His durability to us in the form of everlasting life:

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." - John 3:16

Reason Two: Can Your God Do This?

Sure the gods of money, fame, sex, drugs, work, no God, and all things material are powerful however, can they do this?

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" - Genesis 1:1

"Then God said, Let us make human beings".... Genesis 1:26   "So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." Genesis 1:27

The God I serve created heaven and earth you and me...can your God do this?

Reason Three: The God I serve wants to be my friend

And so, it happened just as the Scriptures say: "Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith." He was even called the friend of God. James 2:22-24

--So does your God want to be your friend?

As our friend, God wants us to live an extraordinary life. To enable us to live such a life He has provided us with all we need:

  • A wonderfully creative mind and body capable of doing marvelous things.
  • The companionship of a loving and caring family, friends and for many of us a life partner spouse or significant other.
  • A beautiful planet to live in containing natural resources to meet our every physical need.

However, all of these goodies mean nothing without our relationship and friendship with God.

The Bottom Line: We All Need A God

null Having a God is essential to being human. While the God I serve is all powerful for me the most powerful thing about God is the fact that He decided not to extend His power to demanding that we pick Him as our God! God left that choice up to us - and for me the choice is clear. I have chosen the one true God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God that sent His son Jesus Christ to save us and then raised Him from the dead with all power; the God that created us and wants to be our friend..... Taking all this and more in account I hope that you will do the same; because the God I serve is worthy to be chosen and praised. Pick Him and pick Him now. Why? Because: We All Need A God!
