Let. It. Go. Pt 1
By Minister Ann Pinkney
There's an old Doris Day/Cary Grant movie - about a single working woman who meets a high-powered executive man. The man offers the woman the chance to travel with him and, in essence, be his well-kept paramour.
At first she decides to tell him no. Then, when his own conscience keeps him from calling her to get her response, she gets upset. She then rings him and he says, in so many words, that he chose not to call because she's a nice girl from a nice town. Her response? She gets offended, saying the folks from her town are just as sophisticated as those from his world. She then decides to travel with him to prove it.
When I saw that - it was so clear - how taking offense, with pride being the spark - can lure us into traps made and laid just for us. Satan fell because of pride (Isaiah 14:12-14), and if we're not sober and vigilant (1 Peter 5:8), it's easy for us to fall for the same reason. Even when we resolve to do what's right, when someone does or says something that hurts our feelings, or wounds our pride - it can lead us directly into offense.
When we get offended, and refuse to let those feelings go, it creates fertile ground for a root of bitterness to grow within us. And that spiritual root, like natural ones, can go deep. Bitterness poisons us. It corrupts how we feel and think. It's rot that eats us internally until it destroys us externally. And left unchecked it destroys our relationships with others and most importantly, with God. Touch base with us in two weeks for Part 2 of "Let. It. Go.," which will deal with how not to let offense and related bitterness destroy our lives.

Salvation or Restoration
|
If you would like to accept and confess Jesus Christ, making Him your personal Lord and Savior or if you have turned away from Him to go your own way and wish to return to Him, pray the following prayer aloud:
Dear Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God. I believe You died and rose from the dead on the third day. I believe You are alive and now seated at the right hand of the Father. I believe You died for my sin; paying the debt for sin that I could not pay myself. Please forgive me for all my sin. I invite You into my heart and my life to be my Lord and Savior. I am forgiven. I am now born-again. I am now a child of God. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
If you have made Jesus the Lord of your life today, email us, so we may celebrate with all of heaven, officially welcome you to the family of God, and send some free information to you to help you get started.
Many blessings to you
