But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord God and made Him my refuge, that I may tell of all Your works.
Psalm 73:28 Amplified Bible
There is a draw that is not from God. In subtlety, it can maneuver its way into our living for and even serving the Lord. As we diligently go about in our assignments, tasks and responsibilities we are oftentimes unaware of just how much we are giving to those, and how little we have spent with the Lord. It becomes a quiet, cunning and unsuspecting relinquishing to them.
A good indicator is by our demeanor and attitude -- irritated, frustrated, impatient, dismay and so on; how we respond/react; unpleasant, scowling expressions. Left unchecked, this can carry over into our health and well-being.
The devil, and yes he is a real entity, understands that he cannot stop, or come at God's sold out ones directly. This enemy of God can tell when our hearts and affections have been altered by God's love, making the old snares ineffective. So he utilizes clever, covert tactics to draw us away from our Source -- busyness, compassion for others, steadfastness...perverting all the qualities of God's good servant...if we allow.
The Lord expressed this word of reprimand:
"Do not allow the assignment or those of it to draw you away from Me. This is not in regard to your salvation or My love; but rather your time, energy, resources and most importantly, Our fellowship. Our intimacy is your lifeline for all things I have for you -- for blessing and serving; achieving and acquiring; to have peace and joy regardless of the challenge, opposition or attack.
The assignment may be bigger than you, but nothing is ever larger than the Lord, your God. I am greater and I build you up -- prepare, equip and encourage in Our closeness. Through the depth of Our fellowship, that is intimacy, I reveal plans, resources, access routes and codes, and strategies.
Do not permit the missions, assignments, tasks or the people within them to draw you away from Me; or you shall find yourself running on fumes instead of the actual fuel of Me -- who and all I AM.
No condemnation here...never with Me. Repent, if need be. Dust yourself off. Let Us now resume Our Oneness. Draw near to Me...this is the right draw. Amen."
To this Father, we say, "Yes Sir. We answer to Your draw; in Jesus' Name. Amen."
