What's Happening in Boise School District

Back to School Information: Click here to find everything you need to get ready for the upcoming 2014-15 school year in the Boise School District, including a new school bus stop locator, school supply lists, registration times, immunization clinic schedules, etc. 

 

Free and Reduced Price Breakfast and Lunch Available: Boise School District today announced its procedures for free and reduced price meals for children unable to pay the full price for meals served under the USDA National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. Program Provides Breakfast and Lunch at No Cost: At several schools in the District, as part of the USDA Community Eligibility Program, breakfast and lunch are provided at no cost. Click here to learn more.
 
Just for Kids Now Enrolling:  Boise School District's Just for Kids (JFK) childcare program is now enrolling for the 2014-15 school year.  JFK is an on-site child care service provided by the Boise School District for ages 4-5 (Pre-Kindergarten) as well as K-6 students. We work hard to provide a fun, educational experience for all children. Our staff members are highly trained and all are certified in CPR and First Aid. In Best Of Treasure Valley 2014 voting, Just For Kids was named one of the top childcare providers in our community.  Click here for more information about the Just for Kids childcare program.  
 
August 5:  Girls interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math will join fellow female scientists for the first ever Girl-Powered STEM Challenge! The event, intended to celebrate, inspire, and empower young women interested in science, technology, engineering and math will run from 
9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Hidden Springs Elementary School, 5480 W. Hidden Springs and includes: 
  • 50 participants in grades 4-6 from 11 different schools and two school districts
  • Over 10 organizations supporting the event in different ways 
  • 5 unique STEM challenges for our participants to explore 
  • A panel of 10 female STEM role models participating on our lunch round table 
  • At least 8 different booths for girls to explore during the event's exhibition

August 11 and 18:  Ada County Health District (ACHD) is offering back-to-school immunization clinics for students. Click here for more information. 
 
August 19: At 5:30 p.m. at the Boise School District Services Center, 8169 W. Victory Road, Boise, you will have an opportunity to meet the candidates running in the September 2nd Boise School Board Election. Click here for more information about the candidates and the election. 

August 24:  Online registration begins for the Fall Community Education session. Click here to learn more.  
 
August 25:  First day of the 2014-15 school year for students in Boise School District. Early release for K-12 students. Click here for the early release schedule.

September 1:  Labor Day. No school for students in Boise School District.
