February 2014: Team Truman Chapels & Love Does Outreach
Students in TK-5th grade enjoyed a special Team Truman chapel including a comprehensive overview of how MCS adopted the USS Truman and Air Wing and ways we are serving the men and women on the ship such as sending phone cards (with funds raised through the ASB Pancake Breakfast) and Love Does gift boxes (with items given by our elementary students and letters and notes included from our middle school students).

December 2013: MCS Receives a "Thank You Email" From the USS Truman
"Good Morning, My name is AME2(AW) John Doering and I am in one of the squadrons on Carrier Air Wing 3 deployed on the USS Harry S. Truman. I just wanted to send you a thank you message and to tell you that I really appreciate your school taking the time out of your schedules to do a fundraiser and send us all phone cards. That really does mean a lot to us. I am thankful to have received one from you and I know that my girlfriend back in Virginia will be happy to hear my voice again. Again, thank you for the phone cards and everything that your school has done for us. I hope you have a great day."
Sincerely,
AME2(AW) John Doering

November 2013: Team Truman Special Chapel & Pancake Breakfast
In honor of Veterans Day and to show our support and gratitude for the men and women of the Air Wing of the USS Harry S. Truman, students wore their Team Truman T-Shirts and enjoyed a special chapel dedicated to learning more about the ship.
Thank you to the Middle School ASB for providing a fantastic breakfast and opportunity for the MCS family to enjoy a morning of fun and fellowship. We raised $1,665 to benefit the men and women of the USS Truman. Thank you for your participation!
|
October 2013: MCS Adopts the Truman
The buck stops at MCS as Mariners' students have adopted the U.S.S. Harry S. Truman as part of an ongoing service project. All students were introduced to the program in chapels which included a presentation from Brian and Diane Weissberg (pictured left), alumni parents of Jon Weissberg (MCS class of 2002). Jon is a Naval Academy graduate and is currently serving in the Persian Gulf aboard the Truman as an F-18 navigations officer.
As we approach Veterans Day, MCS is proud to partner with the Weissbergs to bless the crew of the Truman. God bless our Veterans.
Team Truman T-shirts were sent home to wear on T-shirt Tuesdays and special Team Truman Days (watch for details).
