Fumed European Chestnut!
 
Gorgeous Fumed European Chestnut slab 3892x1
We recently added some beautiful European Chestnut to our inventory! Chestnut is normally a lighter brown or tan color, but this slab series has been "fumed" making it a rich dark brown, almost black, color. Fuming is a process that darkens the heartwood by creating a reaction between the tannins (organic compounds) in the wood with ammonia fumes. It is important to note that the company that fumes our wood uses a process that darkens the heartwood all the way through, unlike most other processes that just darken the surface of the wood. Tannins are not found in the sapwood, so even after the fuming process the edges are left a light tan and create a defined contrast. European Chestnut, or Sweet Chestnut, is known to be very durable and rot resistant making it perfect for indoor or outdoor applications. The slabs we have in stock range from an ideal 8' dining table length to 17' for a bookmatch conference table or one piece bar or countertop.

This gorgeous Beech slab is just full of character! Great crotch figure at the top, curl through the center, and some nice spalting along the edges. This piece is the perfect size and shape for a small dining or breakfast table. Once finished, this slab will be a fabulous live edge addition to someone's home.
 
We have added some incredible Big Leaf Maple Burl slabs to our inventory. These pieces have some beautiful figure and are large in diameter (4-5 feet across!). They are perfect size for a coffee table, highboy bar style table, or a small dining table! No matter what they become they will be one of a kind and breathtaking!
