River Recovered Cypress
One of a Kind
We have just added some beautiful River Recovered Cypress, also known as Old Growth Sinker Cypress, to our inventory. We were told that the tree these slabs came from was probably about 1000 years old when it was cut over 150 years ago. They were axe cut so one end of the slabs have a v-shape as you can see in the photo above . These reclaimed logs sank to the bottom of rivers as they were floated down river to sawmills. Cypress is one of the most rot resistant woods so instead of rotting while underwater they turned into spectacular pieces of wood. The color of River Recovered Cypress varies so much that each piece is truly one of a kind.
