Salvaged old growth redwood log

The salvaged old growth redwood piece that we purchased in California has just arrived. Even though this tree was over 12' in diameter at the base and estimated to be 2000 years old, the 5' diameter piece we purchased came from the top of the tree and is estimated to be 1,100 years old.  It is truly amazing when you realize that this tree started growing when the Roman Empire was flourishing, the Mayans were creating their temples and the Han Dynasty was in full swing. We will be sawing it into discs in the very near future so if you are interested in any of these redwood discs, either fresh cut or dried, please let us know what thickness you would prefer.

We were excited to have the cast and crew of a national home and garden show film a segment of one of their programs here a couple of weeks ago. Dannielle, our manager, and Jamie Loki, of Loki Custom Furniture, were on-camera giving the host of the show a tour of our operation while Jonathan and Dan demonstrated how the sawmill works. Everyone did a fabulous job and had a lot of fun. When we know the date and time of the show we will be sure to let everyone know.
