We have yet to encounter a client who doesn't have a collection of electronics. Some people have old walkmans from the 80's and other people have brand new electronic pieces that are still in the original packaging.

Of course, we encourage our clients to donate anything that they no longer use. This is especially true if they say they can't see themselves using it any time in the near future.

New, upgraded versions of electronics are constantly being released. If you don't take the time to donate these items as new ones come in, you'll quickly find yourself drowning in wires and components. This same rule applies in all areas of organizing.

Most of us use a number of different electronic devices every day. Because of this, charging them all regularly is crucial. In the article below, we show you 5 do-it-yourself ways to set up a charging station. Make charging convenient and you'll never find yourself with a dead battery!

If you've been struggling to manage your stockpile of electric gadgets, watch our latest video  from M2O-TV. We demonstrate how to win the battle with the wires, parts and outdated technology. You will certainly learn a trick or two!

Stay tuned into our Facebook for free organizing inspiration including before and after pictures. Since it's almost tax time and we're talking electronics, we thought we would offer you all a 20% off any "O Your Office" appointment of 6 hours or more. Let's create a system that lasts.

5 DIY Charging Stations

Next to the bed, on the kitchen counter, on top of the office desk and all over the house. Everywhere we walk we see piles of electronic devices tangled wires and cords in our homes. From tablets to phones, electronics are taking over. In one of our last posts we talked about organizing your wires : DIY style!  Since a large number of cords we have are for devices that we charge daily, it is wise to create an area close to an electric socket where you can keep your cords and charge your devices. Make sure this location is somewhere with enough space for your devices to charge safely without creating a hazard. Here are 5 DIY charging station projects. Pick the one that works best with your style, needs and available space. For convenience, it is best to create these stations in a common area where the whole family gathers. Not only will a charging station prevent cords from taking over your home, this solution eliminates any panicked searches for your charger.

A Message from Our Co-founders...

They say that people are more plugged into their devices and less plugged into other human beings these days. Would you agree?

We can agree on one thing...our clients have a hard time parting with even the most outdated technology. Somehow we feel a sort of affection towards our electronics. Maybe it's because we do spend a little too much time with them.

Whatever this phenomenon, keeping all these devices organized (both in our spaces and within the device itself) is important to our clients. Just last month we worked with a client who had an old Polaroid camera, a first generation camcorder amongst other iconic electronics. We helped her pull those pieces out of her everyday space and into proper, secure storage. Now she has greater accessibility to the gadgets she does use regularly plus we took away some of the pieces that was of no use to her anymore for donation and recycling!

Being green is extremely important to us. If it's important to you too, check out NAPO Chicago's Green Team resource list. You can also save the date for the organization's annual donate, recycle and shred event, the De-clutter Drive Thru, coming up on May 7, 2016. Join us for this free community event where you can feel good about decluttering responsibly.

Contact us through our website or by email. We are ready to tackle your latest organizing challenge!
