Carinval and Fun Run Are Here!
Friday, September 25, 2015 noon - 3:00 p.m.,
On the Quad

Get ready for a fun-filled afternoon for the entire CSS community. Kick off the fun by running in the Fun Run at 12:10 p.m. Next, head on over to the quad to play games, win prizes, sing a little karaoke, watch rockets soar, feast on delicious BBQ, purchase homemade baked goods and so much more! All funds raised go directly to CSS classrooms, grade-level activities, clubs, and organizations.

Come to Carnival hungry! You can enjoy a fresh grilled burger (or hotdog or veggie burger) with chips and a drink for $7 and concessions are $1 each for a snow cone, cotton candy, popcorn or soda. Cash only please. Made by your 8th grade students and parents as a fundraiser for Walkabout.

Each year, Carnival is produced entirely by the Parents Association. If you're a parent, that's you! Come help transform the quad into a carnival midway and meet new friends. Volunteer opportunities include working at a grade-level or club booth, providing home baked goods for the Bake Sale, helping with set up and tear down, and counting and selling game tokens.

Setup: Friday, September 25 from 8:00 a.m. - noon
Fun Run: Friday, September 25 at 12:10pm

Calling All Bakers for Carnival
Friday, September 25, 2015

The CSS Carnival needs baked goods for the annual Bake Sale on Friday, September 25.

Please send in any homemade goodies... cakes, pies, cookies, cupcakes, brownies, breads, treats and more. Variety is wonderful!

Both individual portions (example: baggies of several cookies) & whole items (cakes, pies, loaves of bread, etc.) are appreciated.

Drop off items at the Trianon on the morning of Carnival (starting at 7:30 a.m.). We will price all the baked goods, and it is very helpful if you can label them with info about flavor, nuts, gluten-free, etc.  Thanks so much!

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer at the Bake Sale Booth, contact Linda Jackson at (719) 510-2676  or Patty Burke at (719) 339-8037. Thank you!

RULER Parent Education Meeting
Wednesday, October 7, 2015, 6:30 p.m.
Louisa Performing Arts Center

Parents of students in all divisions are invited to an informational meeting about the RULER Program, a new CSS program we are using to help our students develop emotional intelligence.

This program was developed and is supported by the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, and CSS sent our three Division Lead Teachers in addition to a second teacher from each division to the Yale summer training workshop a couple months ago.

Parents who attend the meeting on October 7th will hear from this team about philosophy behind the program and will learn about its four anchors: the (1) Charter, (2) Mood Meter, (3) Metamoment, and (4) Blueprint.  Following this explanation of the program's central components, we will share with you how we are adapting the program to fit each division's needs at CSS.
