In our Tour of 1 Corinthians, we continued our conversation in chapter 15. The Apostle Paul is writing this content to their church because of two reasons:
The first reason he is revisiting the Gospel is that some didn't believe in the resurrection. In the later portion of the chapter he expounds the necessity of the resurrection to the Christian faith.
The second reason is because it's review! Paul in essence says, "I'm gonna tell you what I already told you: the Good News."
When Paul brought the Gospel to the Corinthians
1) they received it
2) and they stood in it
3) by which they are saved (15:1)
Gospel is about saving us now and giving us an eternal future! It's not merely a future hope, but a present reality!
Too often we shrink the Gospel down to only a package about heaven. It is much, much more, but these verses in 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 is one of the simplest articulations of our faith in Jesus!
