NEWS & NOTES
A monthly newsletter to keep you informed.

Recent Changes to the Monthly Newsletter
I have decided to improve our monthly church newsletter to make it easier for you to access and read. Please be patient...this month's issue is "under construction" and therefore a bit shorter and rough around the edges...
Sincerely, Karen Salas
Mission Mexico
sepia_stacked_hands.jpg As I write, many of our amazing church members are on their way to Mexico for a weekend service trip. Please pray for our team!

What is this trip about?

Our team is driving down to Genesis Diez (located just south of Ensenada) and lending a helping hand to them and the surrounding communities! We have a construction team led by Chuck Kirtz and a kids team led Haley Helfer!  Our medical team is well equipped by you and is being led by Mindi Jentes.

Genesis Diez is in the process of building an orphanage for disabled children of Mexico. God has called them to the orphan children of Mexico and it's so exciting to see Genesis following His instruction and we just want to support and encourage them using our own hands!

Many kids in this area live in extreme poverty and do not get to experience joy and laughter. We want to come and pour out love onto them. We desire to show His love by simply hanging out, playing games, and talking with these nios.

From Where I Sit

Hi! Karen Salas here...From my seat, at my desk and in the Body, I have the rare privilege of seeing you lovely people live your lives with HIM. I am in awe of you! This month I invite you to welcome Stephanie Perez to our Newsletter cover....

I am the Manger of Health Information Services for a large medical group. I have 2 offices that I am responsible for, one in Torrance and the other in El Monte. In total I have about 45 employees that report up to me. My office is a non-clinical site that is located in Torrance and I have about 40 employees at that site. Since I am located at a non-clinical site, I have the ability to keep us very casual. That being said, that does not mean we are not busy. We are extremely busy, processing all of the loose paper documents (approximately 14,000 a day) for the entire California division (about 60 sites and over 300 providers), Release of records for the south regions and lots of other stuff, way too boring to go into details.

Despite what people may think, it was not my "dream" to become a manager of health information services. However, come to find out I am livin' the dream. For the longest time, I just thought that set of circumstances brought me to where I am, but now I realize it is much more than that. I am EXACTLY where I am supposed to be. Click here to read more..

Changes for the Kinjos
Kinjo Family 2012 A Difficult Decision:

In January of 1996, Yuki started in ministry in Tokyo.  After that, in March of 1998, the Lord led us (Yuki and Fujiyo) to be married, and we continued in ministry in the Tokyo area.  Following that, in April of 2006, our family moved to Okinawa, where Yuki is from.

For the past eight and a half years, we have taken advantage of opportunities on Okinawa to build relationships, love the people here, and share the gospel with them.  However, looking back at the past eight and a half years, we have also become keenly aware of a number of areas where we lack in certain strengths and abilities. During the first half of our ministry on Okinawa, we started a Kids' Club, and built up an energetic outreach.  In the latter half of our ministry on Okinawa, our second daughter, Kanan, contracted leukemia and had to undergo cancer treatment.  During her road to recovery, we changed our target and methods of outreach.  During that time, we were also experiencing significant emotional and spiritual stress, our outlook for the future was dim, and we were clearly growing weary.

Through this sequence of events, we have followed God's leading and have made a difficult decision.  At the end of 2014, we will be formally discontinuing our role as Encompass National Ministry Partners.  We want to express our heart- felt gratitude to you for all the years you have offered up your valuable prayer and the sacrifice of your financial support.  Starting in January of 2015, Yuki is planning on working a traditional job, and then as the Lord allows, serving as volunteer staff of the Encompass Japan team.

Finally, we earnestly pray that God blesses you abundantly for the many sacrificial acts of love you have offered up on our behalf.  Once again, we give you our heart- felt thanks for the 19 years you have offered up your love and prayers, and supplied for our financial needs. We would be greatly appreciative of continued prayer for our family.

Our heartfelt thanks to all of you for your invaluable prayer.

Yukimasa and Fujiyo Kinjo, October 2014
