ELUM News

 

Joanne Conroy, M.D. (ELAM '98), chief health care officer for the Association of American Medical Colleges, is one of three final candidates for the presidency of the Medical University of South Carolina.

 

Mary Dankoski, Ph.D. (ELAM '11), was awarded with the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Outstanding Woman Leader Award. This award from the campus Office for Women is given annually as part of Women's History Month to recognize women who have demonstrated exemplary leadership at the campus, community, national and/or international level. The awards ceremony was March 26, 2014.  

 

Sylvia Daunert, Ph.D. (ELAM '12) Professor and Lucille P. Markey Chair, Associate Director, Dr. JT Macdonald Biomedical Nanotechnology Institute, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Editor, Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry and Executive Editor, Analytical Biochemistry has recently been awarded three very prestigious honors:

  • 2014 Provost Award for Scholarly Achievements, University of Miami.
  • Elected member of the Real Academia Nacional de Farmacia of Spain, 2013.
  • Elected Academic D'Honor of the Reial Acadèmia de Farmàcia de Catalunya, 2014 (only woman out of 3 scientists in 60 years to receive that honor, the other two Federico Mayor Zaragoza, President of Unesco and Joan Massagué, Scientific Director of Memorial Sloan Kettering).

Petra Kaufmann, M.D., M.Sc. (ELAM '12), will head the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences Division of Clinical Innovation beginning May 4, 2014.

 

Tsveti Markova, MD, FAAFP, (ELAM '12) Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education and DIO, Professor, Department of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences, Wayne State University School of Medicine has been appointed by the Dean to be the Interim Chair of the Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences Department, in addition to her GME Dean role.

 

Susan Pepin, M.D. (ELAM '11) has been named the next president and CEO of Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust, effective July 28, 2014.

 

AAMC CFAS-News, April 3, 2014:

Duke University School of Medicine and Duke University Health System have announced several new leadership appointments. Ann Reed, M.D. (ELAM '11), will become the chair of pediatrics, effective Aug. 1. Reed currently is the chair of the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at Mayo Clinic.
