The Inland Coalition is a program of Reach Out and was established in March 2007 to convene the health careers employers, educators, and community stakeholders in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties and the Pomona Valley in a coordinated effort to address regional health workforce.

Convergence Press Conference a huge success. Last week's press event and reception was well received and attended by area CEO's and Higher Education administrators committing to the health professional pipeline in the Inland Empire.The Daily Bulletin followed the event with an article. Look for additional coverage in the Press Enterprise.
APU announces "Healthcare for Me in the IE" poster contest. Teachers, get your students excited about their health professions future by having them participate in the first ever poster contest to promote health professions in the Inland Empire sponsored by Azusa Pacific University. The judging criteria has also been included for your use.
Teacher externship application period happening now. Classroom educators can sign up for a health profession externship! This is a 20 hour experience in a health-related agency that can provide some insight into the real time needs and skills of health professionals. Attached is the application. Here is a partial list of placement opportunities:

Meyerhoffer meets with HEAL students

HEAL mentoring continues. Students with the Health Education and Learning Academy at Colton High School continue to benefit from mentors like Marge Meyerhoffer pictured right.

YAHA is out in the community. Every weekend you can find Youth Adovcates for Health Access volunteers cheerfully providing health insurance information at local community events throughout the county. Just look for the blue table cloth with the YAHA logo and volunteers in black t-shirts with the hashtag #healthcare4all. This is going to be a great pilot project!

2015 Cyber Symposium comes to San Bernardino. A cyber symposium will be held October 15 about building a pathway for a highly trained and educated workforce. Educators and teachers may be interested in attending. A special invitation has been extended by the San Bernardino Superintendent of Schools.
Job opening. Community Health Systems, Inc. is currently looking for a strong candidate to fill the position of Community Relations Coordinator at their Bloomington Clinic. If you know of anybody that is fully Spanish bilingual and has experience in working in community health please contact Denis Vega Tapia, Director of Community Relations.
Be a medical healthcare interpreter. Several ROPs in partnership with InterpreterEd.com are offering a 40-hour medical healthcare interpreter course. The course is open to individuals 18 and older.

Education scholarships available for undocumented students. Generation Progress and the National Latino Education Network have provided a list of scholarships available to undocumented students for the 2016/17 school year.
Get the 411 on health careers. This go-to website is always a great resource for students who are exploring the latest careers in health. They are currently offering a free webinar on the field of dentistry, this Tuesday, October 6 from 7:00 - 8:00 PM Eastern Time. Stay up to date on the latest information by clicking on the Health Careers logo.
Youth technology summit kicks off at Harvey Mudd College. If you have a passion for technology and want to know how you can be a part of it, you don't want to miss this fun and interactive summit on Saturday, October 24. You may apply for a scholarship to cover the cost of registration. See the attached flyer for more information.
Career exploration videos for students. ConnectEd on YouTube offers students glimpses into a host of health careers as seen through the eyes of those who work in those careers. Get first-hand knowledge as well as information on academic classes and technical skills required.
Hey high-schoolers! There are plenty of volunteer opportunities in your community to help you complete your volunteer hours. See the attached list provided by the American Heart Association.
