The Inland Coalition is a program of Reach Out and was established in March 2007 to convene the health careers employers, educators, and community stakeholders in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties and the Pomona Valley in a coordinated effort to address regional health workforce.

Inland Coalition Quarterly meeting features work-based learning. This quarter our guest speaker is Cathy Martin, Vice President of Workforce Policy at California Hospital Association will present "Roadmap for Creating a Health Care Work-based Learning Program." We are honored to have Cathy speak to us about this important coalition topic and hope you will attend.

YAHA gets out into the community. Youth Advocates for Health Access can be seen at many community events throughout the Inland Empire. Here three volunteers man the information table at the Youthfest in Moreno Valley.

Teachers & Health Professionals
|
Teacher externships now available. If you are a health pathway teacher wanting a chance to experience the "real world" of health professions outside the classroom, apply to participate in a 20-hour teacher externship. You will receive a $500 stipend upon completion. Some of the site available include:
- Kids Come first Clinic, County of San Bernardino
- Department of Public Health, Division of Environmental Health
- County of San Bernardino Behavioral Health
- Chino Valley Medical Center
- Riverside County Department of Mental Health
You must complete the attached application, attend an orientation on September 30, from 4:00 -6:00 PM and complete required paperwork. The location of the orientation is still to be determined.
CINHC thought leaders provide white paper on redesigning nursing education. This white paper provides educators, clinical leaders, and policy makers with essential information and recommendations for transforming nursing education in California. The need for curriculum revisions within nursing was first recognized over 20 years ago. The challenge is moving from rhetoric to action to transform nursing education.
Pacific Clinics Training Institute provides health navigator training. This training program is designed for the peer and paraprofessional workforce and sets a foundation for integrated services while providing trainees with the certification and tools to link consumers of behavioral health services with services in the primary healthcare system. Register at www.mypcti.org. Training takes place October 5-9 in Pasadena.

Boys and Girls Club helps kids see better. This Saturday, September 19 the clubs will be set up at 1251 Clay Street in Redlands. They will provide FREE eye screenings and even free glasses to school age kids 5-18 years as part of the Sight for Students program at the annual Day for Kids from 11am to 2pm. Do you robot? The Loma Linda Heart and Surgical hospital is inviting High School seniors to come for morning of hands-on simulation surgeries with the DaVinci robotic equipment. This is an awesome once-in-a-lifetime chance you don't want to miss! Download the application.
Career exploration videos for students. ConnectEd on YouTube offers students glimpses into a host of health careers as seen through the eyes of those who work in those careers. Get first-hand knowledge as well as information on academic classes and technical skills required.
