The Inland Coalition was established in March 2007 to convene the health careers employers, educators, and community stakeholders in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties and the Pomona Valley in a coordinated effort to address regional health workforce.

Inland Coalition and El Sol partner to bring Health Access Advocacy to Inland Empire! Advocates will be trained in how to assist individuals to enroll or renew health coverage and how to navigate and leverage the health system. They will also promote health access through youth groups and community organizations. The Advocates will also be trained in assisting those individuals who are eligible for MediCal due to the Presidents immigration Executive order.
California Health Workforce Alliance (CHWA) recently conducted a statewide assessment on community health workers in California and strategies to their expand engagement in comprehensive team-based care in a variety of settings. This report is available to you here.
Healthy San Bernardino sponsors the Fresh Start San Bernardino Striders and Farm Share program. The wellness program features health education, physical activity and a weekly farmers market with fresh, local and organic produce at wholesale prices.

REACH Centers is a non-profit Workforce Training Center that offers clients courses in entry-level healthcare. REACH Centers primary goal is employment. We have a list of current CE courses offered at Chaffey College and the training center in Rancho Cucamonga as well as CNA and Home Health Aide certificate programs in San Bernardino, Hesperia and Rancho Cucamonga.

Now that's a lot of sugar! Shayla Spilker from the Latino Coalition for a Healthy California demonstrated the amount of sugar in soft drinks as part of the Diabetes Education Seminar that Inland Coalition attended. The Inland Coalition will work in collaboration with Latino Health Collaborative to train Diabetes educators.
The 2015 National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship Program application cycle is now open and will close on May 7, 2015 at 7:30 PM ET. Please refer to the 2015 Application and Program Guidance for all of the program requirements.
Eligibility is open to all students who are committed to primary care and are U.S. citizens or nationals and are enrolled in a fully accredited training program for Physicians (MD or DO), Dentists, Nurse Practitioners, Certified Nurse-Midwives or Physician Assistants at a U.S. accredited school. Scholarship support includes tax-free payment of tuition, required fees, other reasonable educational costs, and a taxable monthly living stipend. For each year of financial support an NHSC Scholarship recipient serves one year at an NHSC-approved site in one of many high-need urban, rural, and frontier communities (minimum two year commitment).
The NHSC Scholarship Program continues to be competitive and applicants are encouraged to begin the application process early as on average it takes up to 3 weeks to complete the application.Technical assistance, provided by NHSC program staff, is available on the date below:

Loma Linda University offers a great Volunteer Opportunity for youth. If you are a high school student age 14-16 years old and live within 30 miles of Loma Linda University, you may apply for this volunteer slot. You must have a 3.2 GPA and be able to work 12 hours (8:30 AM-12:30 PM or 12:30 - 4:30 PM) a week during June and July for a total of 35 hours. Bloomington Community Health Center and House of Ruth will host a series called Talk To Youth Now (TTYN) to educate, encourage and empower young women ages 12 -18 through life's challenges. The American Red Cross is encouraging students to host a blood drive during the 100 days of summer. Here is information on how you can host a blood drive and enter to win a college scholarship! Student internship opportunities are also available, starting in April, through the American Red Cross.
Hey students, it's not too late! The IESHA (Inland Empire Student Health Ambassador) application deadline has been extended to March 27.This is a unique opportunity for you to experience community health in a clinic setting. IESHA is a 36-hour program that will prepare you to deliver health-related messages in pre-selected clinic waiting rooms. You will be trained by qualified health professionals in topics like: dental health, diabetes, cardiovascular health, etc.
IESHA not only looks great on a university application, but it builds experience and gives you a hands on experience to view health careers from a preventive perspective. The program set to begin in April and end in July of this year.
