BC TEACHER INDUCTED INTO ACADEMY OF TEACHERS
Congrats to Middle School Humanities Teacher Geoff Agnor, who is Berkeley Carroll's latest inductee into NYC's Academy for Teachers! The Academy brings New York's finest teachers together for master classes led by preeminent intellectuals and artists.
Mr. Agnor was chosen to take a class with biographer David McCullough, who is a two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award and a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the U.S.' highest civilian award. Read more.STUDENT NAMED OUTSTANDING JAZZ SOLOIST
Seventh grader Charlie H. '21 has been named outstanding soloist at the Brooklyn Music School Jazz Festival and received a $500 scholarship. Saxophone great Jeff Newell came to BC to present the award to Charlie.

EXPERTS DISCUSS THEIR CAREERS AT BC SYMPOSIUM
Ninth though eleventh graders learned about different fields of work at BC's second annual Career Symposium. The keynote address was given by Dan Porter, a BC parent and head of digital at William Morris Endeavor, who spoke about his own unpredictable career and advised students on "why you shouldn't know what you want to be when you grow up." Students then heard from nearly 30 BC parents, alumni and faculty on nine panels ranging from arts and fashion, media and entertainment, business, law, medicine and engineering.

AFTER SCHOOL SHOWCASES SPRING SEASON
MIDDLE SCHOOLERS PLOT "PI" & TURN IT INTO GIANT SKYLINE MURAL
Fifth and sixth grade students in the Math/Art Elective created a bar graph out of the digits of pi, which, due to how much it resembles a cityscape, they have dubbed the Pi Skyline.

7TH GRADERS VISIT & LEARN ABOUT EL BARRIO... IN SPANISH
As part of the immigration unit of their Spanish class, seventh graders took tours of East Harlem's El Barrio and learned about Puerto Rican culture and community with guides from El Museo del Barrio. The tours were conducted entirely in Spanish. Each student interviewed an immigrant in Spanish to learn about their personal history and reasons for settling in New York. They presented the interviews to their peers this week.
