SENIORS DIRECT & PRESENT THEIR DOCUMENTARIES
Seniors in Documenting the World wrote, directed and filmed documentaries with guidance from Reel Works Teen Filmmaking this semester, which they presented last week. Click the links below to watch each film.
"Disquietude" - is about three teens with anxiety or depression who give insight on their daily lives, depicting how they power up or down while going through the motions of their day. "Invisible Neighbors: The Unheard Voices of Park Slope" f ocuses on how 11% of Park Slope's 65,000 residents live in poverty and how "we pass our neighbors on the street daily, but what do we know about them?" "Beyond the Billboard" complicates our understanding of the impact that the advertising industry has on teenage identity.
AMERICAN STUDIES STUDENTS GIVE WALKING TOURS
American Studies students conducted walking tours - which they researched and organized themselves - all over New York City last week for classmates and faculty.

5TH GRADE GOES TO BAM
The 5th grade travelled to BAM to see DanceAfrica 2016. Humanities Teacher Ms. Taketomo reports, "The kids had a fantastic time and were thrilled to see on stage some of the Senegalese dance moves they learned in their workshop. Many of them noted how special it was to see the talented drumming, colorful costumes, and complicated dancing firsthand. It was a wonderful way to wrap up our Africa curriculum."
